Wanted to start a post where peeps could share their experiences of writing complaint letters & whether they got any result (and more importantly any free stuff!)
Am a bit of a one for writing letters myself but have had mixed results. It seems some companies are only to keen to dosh out freebies whilst others, even when you have a really serious geniune complaint are downright mean.
Doesn't have to be complaint letters either, many companies give away free samples if you write and ask, particularly if you say something nice about them!
Looking forward to reading your stories....

NoSo I complained to Costa Coffee about a leaking cup, finally got a response from them. Turns out the outlet I was at is franchised so I can expect them to "formalise" the correspondence in a physical letter soon. Goodness knows what they're playing at, I can't really be bothered with it now!0

No - but it should be moved to another boardi rang huggies the other day and complained about their nappy straps keep breaking, i recieved £6 in vouchers yesterday and a sorry letter, they are contacting the manufacturer
I thought it was just me being overzealous when putting them on tight. Obviously a problem with nappies though!0 -

NoAbout 6 weeks ago we stayed over at a Travel Lodge. It was the worst night of my life, the room was unbearably hot and the window only opened about 2cm. It was so hot that when my husband got up the next morning his eyes had dried out so much he said it was like putting acid in his eye putting in his contact lenses.
Complained at the desk in the morning and they said they were aware of the problem and were looking in to having the windows changed to open a bit more
A few days later we had an email from Travel Lodge, just a standard 'how was your stay' kind of thing so i emailed them and complained.
Later that week we had a letter of apology, they were aware of the problem blahdy blah. I thought 'well ok at least they have acknowledged the problem' and forgot all about it until we had a phone call last week from the Travel Lodge offering to refund us the £39 it had cost us for the night.
Fantastic and unexpected result. Big Thumbs up to Travel Lodge customer services

I wrote a complaint to Debenhams last week after a shambolic online order. The website said my stuff would come within 5 days - after 18 days I had rung them twice to be told, "it's been despatched" each time. Then I received a letter to say the items had not been in stock when I ordered but that the website didn't realise that. By the time a refund came it had been over 3 weeks since ordering, obviously I never got my stuff and I'd spent 2 long phone calls being lied to about the order!
I got a letter from Debenhams today saying sorry. That's it! I thought they would at least send a voucher or something.
So my advice to anybody shopping at Debenhams is to do it in store, as the one other time I used them (before this incident) my order took a lot longer than stated. And they don't seem to care about complaints.0 -
Went to Boost Juice bar last night in Trafford Ctr and order two smoothies. The bloke who served me was rude and not polite but chose to ignore it.
It took ten mins to get my drinks as staff were all placing orders with a member of staff about what cigarrettes they wanted etc.
When the guy eventually started making my drinks, he did not wash the spoon in between. I was having berries and fella wanted banana / mango as he doesn't like berries. My fella said he could taste the berries but that its wasnt too bad. The thing that bothered me was that if someone had an allergy it may become a problem.
So i looked for a contact number on website (i didn't have time to ask for manager as i was already late for picking fella up from football due to it taking 10 mins for the drinks to be ready). The number was for Nestle. So rang and explained the situation, the lady was apologetic, but said as there was no problem with the product itself she couldn't do anything so advised me to ring the store. ARGGHH!
So looked for the number and rang them. Assistant Manager siad that she would bring it up with the member of staff and asked if she could have my number just in case the area manager wished to contact me. Gave her my number. I was fine with this as i just wanted the member of staff to be aware of the potential dangers of his actions. Approx 5 mins after i finished the call, the Assistant Manager rang me back and said that she would be posting some vouchers out to apologise!! Result.
I thought it was very good customer service once i got through to the store!!0 -
NoJust emailed pizza express to complain about an apauling pasta meal I had. It came with the top burned black and the pasta tasted extremely cheap and under cooked. £7.95 was far too much to pay when I can make far nicer food from scratch at home on a student smart price diet.0

NoPiefacedrecords, I can sympathise with you, I find Debenhams customer services really bad, i emailed about a really rude 'manager' and the way i was dealt with when trying to return a product and this was 2 weeks ago and still no reply. I think its really bad and this isnt the first time it has happened.:jHas saved so much money since joining this forum, thanks to all you kind people out there :j0

Hi ya,
Does anyone have an email address for Lidl?
I bought some sugar snap peas from there today and had an unexpected piece of meat in there in the way of a caterpillar!!! It has pooped all over the peas and chopped through all the bottom layer.
Obviously I am not going to eat them as way too grossed out.
Anyone think I should keep the caterpillar or send it on its merry way? Never really had an experience like this with animals in my food.
Any advice is much appreciated.
