Virgin are really good when it comes to free stuff. If you are flying ask to be put on standby incase anyone needs to be bumped. If they pick you, you get a free return flight to where ever they fly, a free night in a hotel, food and if you smile and ask nicely a free upgrade. Quite often you will get the upgrade just for asking to be on the bumped list.

We did this a few years ago. Also in terms of complaint letters, they take thier airline service very seriously so it's always worth sending feedback in the form of letters etc. Complementry or not.
Not strictly complain letters but still useful.

Cant say I agree their J, if this was a few years ago then things were certainly different then. For example, in June we were on a virgin flight home from Orlando and it was cancelled. They offered each adult passenger 25,000 miles on their Flying club thats it. Children only got 15,000 miles. Then flew us all home over a day later.
They have really nosedived in terms of customer service on the MCO-LGW route which is a right shame.

I dealt with them just after they bought Vigin Megastore. Complete nightmare to get through on phone or email. In teh end I had to write.

a game I ordered never arrived. They sent another one by next day courier so not too bad in the end

    Hi Disney,
that is atrocious! Our route was London to San Francisco, don't know if that makes a difference. I'd be really annoyed if that's all I got!
Our flight wasn't cancelled tho it was over subscribed so they HAD to get people to stay behind- maybe that's the difference?

Could well be but in teh last 9 to 12 months Virgin are no better than EasyJet. Awful on the Orlando route. To say I was spitting feathers would be an understatement.

virgin know how I feel, so ball is with them. I bet we get nothing though.

Has anyone any experience with complaining to DFS? Months & months ago we went into store to just look at sofa's as we were in the middle of buying a house but not close to completion. One of the sales reps managed to persuade us into ordering on their home buyer package, whereby you put a pre order in and then finalise it once you have your completion date. They told us that this would mean that we were priority customers and our sofa's would be delivered quicker than if we waited.

In the mean time, they totally screwed up on the paper work and I spent many a hour in store re-doing it, basically we got their interest free credit but it was rejected by one provider and accepted by the other, when I went to resign the forms they spent their time filling out exactly the same form meaning I had to go back again and sign the new forms... All very frustrating and annoying.

Anyway, we finally finalised the order on 25th March, 14 weeks ago, and still no sofa's despite them saying it would take between 10-12 weeks normally and ours would be quicker as we were prioritised by the pre order. They were apparently due in store today, and when my OH rung up this morning they said they would ring this afternoon to organise booking, but still no phone call, I imagine that they haven't arrived and they are just fobbing us off again!

Its all very frustrating, all I want is my sofa's.... Whats more frustrating is that we were supposed to have a payment break before starting to repay the credit but because they have taken so long, we could start paying for them before they even arrive :(

EDIT - Just thought I would share some of my previous complaints, I don't do it often... One was to Beaverbrooks with regards to our engagement rings. I excitedly went to pick them up the morning before I went on holiday (OH was going to propose properly on my 21st birthday on holiday) only to find that they were the wrong ones! Total disastor, how I didn't break down in tears in the shop i'll never know, but I cried all the way home! Worst still was the girl wasn't that sympathetic and still tried to sell me the wrong one! Git! Anyway once I got back from my holiday, I complained via the customer service section on their website and after several emails between myself and their customer services manager (who was lovely) they offered me a 20% discount on re-ordering.

I recently complained to DHL for being imcompetant. They were delivering an ebay parcel I had ordered (magnets for my save the dates for the wedding) and tried to tell me that they had been to the house twice and left a calling card because no one was in, yet we never received a card and my OH was off work and in all day on the 2 days they claimed to have tried to deliver, so I had a 20 mile round trip to their distribution centre, turned up at 7:30pm as they told me over the phone it shut at 8pm, only to find it closed, and despite loads of people being around, because the office door was locked on the outside (they still had access) they wouldn't give me the parcel, so had another 20 mile round trip there the next day. The person moaned at me because I didn't have a card to give them, was getting frustrated when asking how the hell was I supposed to have a card when they didn't give me one! Complaint pretty much fell on deaf ears, no monetary compensation despite paying for a service I never received and spending £X on fuel going to the distribution centre.

No - but the title needs to change
I am incredibly fussy when it comes to eating out. I expect to get a certain standard and have always complained when I feel justified...eg smash potato advertised as mashed potato.
In the past my family has had free desserts, money knocked off etc. THis last week I had a foriegn partical of meat in my veg bowl. After two complaints at the time, two phone calls and finally a letter (do not usually need to go to that extreme) I was sent a £25 eating voucher.
I think if you are paying £10 to 14 for a plate of food it needs to of high standard. That is the norm where I live! Jamie Oliver feeds his family for under a fiver! I wish he would come and cook for me!
    :o
Infamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me!

  • I don't ever complain...I really should, I always regret a few years ago going to get my hair dyed blond...except the girl dyed it ginger! When she held the mirror behind my head and I said something like 'yeah yeah great thanks' and paid, then as soon as I got outside I burst into tears, ran to Boots and bought a brown hair dye!

Also, a few weeks ago my OH bought a t-shirt and when we washed it (exactly as stated on care instructions) it came out with holes in it (from the first wash!). He really loved the t-shirt so we went back to the store to get another one, we complained about the issue before we bought it (and took the old one with us) but the sales assistant stated that as we didn't have a receipt she couldn't refund us...I'm now wondering if I should complain to the actual company who make the t-shirt for a better result? I truly don't understand how it happened (all the other washing it was in with was fine!)

Oh and finally, I do remember an insident my mother had a looooong time ago when she was pregnant with my little sister - she had major chocolate cravings and loved flakes - but she got one, bit into it and it had little tiny spiders in it! She complained and they send her a whole box of the things! Needless to say, she didn't touch any of them...:rotfl:
