Just an update, after a letter to HO, I recieved a letter saying sorry for the confusion but that the store was right. However, enclosed was a five pound voucher for my inconvenience.

We, as a family, went to our local Harvester a couple weeks ago. Although the place was not very busy we were left waiting for far too long, before we were even acknowledged and shown to a table. The waitress was a nice girl, and the food was ok. When we asked for the bill the same happened again. The four of us stood at the reception area, right beside the door, with bill and bank card in hand, whilst various members of staff totally ignored us. It would have been very easy just to have walked out of the door without paying.
One particular lad, the same one that we saw many times when we first arrived, seemed to make a point of not looking in our direction. It was very frustrating.
I emailed them about it... The manager from the local restaurant phoned me, and asked what the problem was, I explained.
He has offered to send me a complimentary meal for the four of us as way of an aplogy. Pleased with that.

A few months ago, I bought a cream from L'Oreal and it gave me a rash! After reading some of the examples in this post I phoned their customer services and after talking me through some medical questions, sent me £15 in L'Oreal vouchers.

It goes to show that it is worth taking a bit of time to complain, especially if you are unhappy with the product/service and not just to chance getting something for free.

I complained to Wilkinsons the other week after I noticed a drink I brought was out of date. Fair play to them, they sent me a voucher. It was nice to see a company taking customer service seriously. :)

I think I have one of the best here.

I recently ordered some flowers from M&S in store. Unfortuantely these were Valentines flowers and we split up before valentines. I rung to cancel, within the 3 day period they suggest at busy times, but they couldn't cancel (understandable if the order was already picked etc) and said they would "try" and change the address to mine. But they still ended up at my ex's, so I emailed them telling them this.

I firstly received an email saying a refund would be credited "to my account". It didn't appear as an online credit as far as I could see, so I emailed back asking what exactly they meant as I paid in store. They apologised and sent me a cheque. Incredibly they also refunded a duvet I had on order from them, worth £55.

So not only did I get the flowers free (and they were delivered and according to my ex, very nice), but I also got a brand new free duvet. To add to this, I paid in store for the flowers, with vouchers and staff discount, but the full value was refunded.

I do hope this wasn't just because I was a member of staff!

After reading the thread I complained about a pair of workwear trousers my Dad had bought for £50+ from a large safety workwear shop. They'd completely fell to abits after he only worn them for 4 months. My dad tried to take them back, but the shop assistant was having none of it. My poor dad is always getting ripped off so a complied an email yesterday and sent it off. They got a reply this morning apologising and saying they've contacted the shop in question and will change or refund them and to take them in.

My Dad really thought he'd wasted £50 on a bad buy.

    I feel really good!!!

A few weeks ago i went to trade some games in at Blockbusters. I had recieved a leaflet through the post saying they would match any other local retailer on trade prices. I have a CEX store locally to me which gives the best prices, but as blockbusters was nearer, though i would take them up on their offer.
However at the store they refused to match CEX as their prices are too high!!
There is nothing on the leaflet about exclusions.
Anyway, I went on to the CEX store and traded them there.

When i got home, i emailed blockbusters about this, got an automated response, and then nothing for 2 weeks.
So i forwarded my original email to the ASA (Advertising Standards Authority), who are taking this up with Blockbusters, and have agreed with me that they should have honored the CEX price.
Yesterday i got an email from Blockbusters with their apology and an offer of a £30 credit!!

I replied asking them to reconsider, after all they only responded due to the intervention of the ASA (who have confirmed to me that they will still be taking this matter up with Blockbusters, if i take an offer or not).

Got an email today stating final offer of £50 credit......... for which i accepted. :D

A lesson to all, when offered a jesture of goodwill from a company always request they review the amount and your reasons why.... you never know;)

Need advice, i expericned bad service. We ordered the food was over priced. It took 10-15 mins for the drinks to arrive. Then 15 mins for the salad bowl which was was tiny. Then 10 mins later are starter came which was soem cheesy wraps. Some sought of wraps. Then the wraps were burnt. My mother is like they are burnt and the memebr of staff rudly replied thats how they are cooked. But i am very sure from the picture i saw it wasnt brunt on the top. Then my mother told him to cook it less he came back with some better looking ones. Then it took 10 mins for the pizza. The food was nice minus the wraps but it took to long. Also the drinks tasted really funny like they were flat or watered down. Then i had ice cream which tasted weird, like i out smarties on, they tasted very queer. The food was over priced in my opinion, the memebr of staff was rude and we had to call someone over after waiting for 10 mins for someone to come to us. I am not sure if i should write in a letter of complaintnt, this happend like a year and a half ago or about two years. What do you think?
Also another problem with pizza hut we ordered to vegterians to be delivered and garlic bread. The person delviers it to are house. Minus the garlic bread, my auntie phones them up saying that you have forgotten the garlic bread. The pizza hut is a delivery one. Which is less thaan under a mile away from my house. They are like you have to pick it up even thought they made the mistake. Should i wrtoe to differnt letters or one?

Flyp...it's really up to you whether to complain or not but personally, as it happened over a year to two years ago the chances are you might not get any recompense..the staff might have changed since then (waiting staff and managerial), others might have also complained similarly and the place might have improved - but as I say, I wouldn't really bother complaining - the restaurant owners will probably tell you you've left it too late to complain...but others here might have a different view...I leave it to the masses here with the expertise to advise you...;)
