I can't believe the operators laughed at you- thats really bad customer service! I'd have wanted a refund on the boots, compensation for the upset getting your foot stuck caused and an apology for their customer services staff laughing.
I think it depends though on how long ago this happened.
Of course you need a refund on the boots, that's not under question, but, looking at the situation objectively, of course it must have been funny. Are customer service staff supposed to be robots without personality or emotion?
No long term harm was done, the problem wasn't caused deliberately, so I can't understand any need for compensation for "getting your foot stuck" nor for the guys laughing.
If there was negligence on anyone's part then yes, consider compensation, but as there was no long term harm - but you've said yourself that "everyone else has" laughed - I assume that applies to people you've told other than the customer service people. They weren't to know that you'd suffer a panic attack.
It'll be a very sad day indeed if the guys at the end of the phone aren't allowed to see light of a funny situation, or be told that they're not allowed to display emotions.0 -

Seeing the light of a funny situation isn't a problem when you're laughing WITH someone, but laughing at them is completely unprofessional, especially in a situation that has caused someone any amount of distress. Notice the thread says ''please don't laugh''.0 -
I'm sorry but I find the whole thing a bit rediculous!
It wasn't the shops fault you got your foot stuck in the shoe, so why should they do anything other than refund the cost of the shoes.
Life's too short, move on (and laugh about it).0 -

No - but the title needs to changejust wanted a bit of advice before i complain, to see if i'm right......
i was in a supermarket this morning when they were reducing foodstuff, and i picked up 4 tins of tuna that were all banded together in that cellophane stuff IYKWIM. a multipack thats what i mean!!
anyway the assistant who was reducing the stuff said he couldn't reduce the 4 tins as one, he would have to open the packet and put a reduced sticker on each tin. however, when he opened the multi pack, he wouldn't let me have them reduced anymore, as he said they had a barcode on, and could be put back on the shelf and sold separately at the full price
i said that to my knowledge that was against the law,but he just said who would ever find out? i would have thought trading standards would be very interested to learn that multipacks are being sold separately, but am i right in thinking that? cos on the packaging it always says "not to be sold separately"
i was going to complain to the HO or do you think i should go straight to Trading Standards? plus his attitude and the way he spoke to me really upset me, especially as there were quite a few customers stood nearby at the time0 -
Noif they had a retail barcode on and were just bound in the cellophane then i believe from my retail management knowledge it is perfectly legal to sell them that way.0
