No - but the title needs to changeif they had a retail barcode on and were just bound in the cellophane then i believe from my retail management knowledge it is perfectly legal to sell them that way.0

The suppliers may not like them sold separately and the retailers don't want multipacks split because if uncontrolled (done by the customer) it will upset their stock control. But it truly isn't illegal (so long as each pack has the statutory details).
If you didn't want 'his attitude' perhaps you shouldn't have accused him of 'acting illegally'?0 -

i was in a supermarket this morning when they were reducing foodstuff, and i picked up 4 tins of tuna that were all banded together in that cellophane stuff IYKWIM. a multipack thats what i mean!!
anyway the assistant who was reducing the stuff said he couldn't reduce the 4 tins as one, he would have to open the packet and put a reduced sticker on each tin. however, when he opened the multi pack, he wouldn't let me have them reduced anymore, as he said they had a barcode on, and could be put back on the shelf and sold separately at the full price
i said that to my knowledge that was against the law,but he just said who would ever find out? i would have thought trading standards would be very interested to learn that multipacks are being sold separately, but am i right in thinking that? cos on the packaging it always says "not to be sold separately"
i was going to complain to the HO or do you think i should go straight to Trading Standards? plus his attitude and the way he spoke to me really upset me, especially as there were quite a few customers stood nearby at the time
If the tins had a barcode, sell by date & all other required info its a perfectly legal sensible thing for them to do. I am more interested as to why they were reduced, if they were dented for example they could be on rockly ground. Everytime I am in my local supermarket I see dented tins that shouldn't be sold on sale at a reduced price:j :j0 -
Has anyone had any success with a centreparcs complaint?0

No - but the title needs to changeyes they were dented, and his attitude started before i said i thought he was out of order. he had already raised his voice to other customers, because everyone was trying to grab things off the shelf0

I've had a couple of successes in my life time! I always find that the ones that are completly in the wrong are the ones who wont respond (e.g. Tiscali taking set up fees from me and admitting it is wrong, then refusing to respond to my complaint or give me the money back!).
When I was a student I bought a carton of ribena, which was fizzy. I complained and they sent me about £10 in vouchers - there was ribena all round after that!
I also complained to Mars once after getting funny looking chocolate (you know when it reaches a high temp b4 you buy it it goes a white colour). They sent me vouchers too!
Its worth complaining when you arent happy - although the big boys arent so willing to help some times (e.g. tiscali)0 -
