I bought some cheese at Asda a couple of years back, well within the Best Before date. When I opened it, it was mouldy.

I took a photo of it and the pack.

I contacted Asda and they said they weren't interested and I should contact the manufacturer.

I contacted the manufacturer and all they did was send me some rubbish freebies they had left over from exhibitions. From memory I got: a frisbee, a baseball cap, a cheap/plastic cheese cutting knife. All with their company name on. Chucked the lot out.

I can't remember the cheese company, but it was Dutch.

That was my first ever attempt at complaining. Not bothered since. I am obviously rubbish at it.

    PasturesNew,

If you get a product that has been sold in a supermarket, complaining to them first is the key option. If they do not honour your complaint, you must tell them that they are disloyal to their customers. It sounds like it was their fault. If mould is seen on cheese, then it is the supermarkets fault because they have obviously not stored it properly.

If i was you, i would have battled with ASDA. I am sure that they would have given you something for the inconvinience if you had took it that little bit further.

Went to my local Mcdonalds friday with some work colleagues ordered over £20 worth of food. Went back to the office to eat and discovered 4/5 meals were made wrong. One had mayo on it and i had asked for it not to be on the burger as the girl had a dairy allergy. Phoned them up the guy appologised and said we can all have free food this friday! Fingers crossed the honour it

Sent a complaint letter about a rude, aggressive & unhelpful member of staff at a well known high street keycutter/shoe & watch repairer. He was really horrible and should not have been alowed anywhere near the paying public.

Got an apologie letter and £25 voucher.

I once found part of a blue plaster in the actual burger from Macdonalds and I complained and got another free but to be honest my appetite had gone, surprisingly.

I also had a heart attack when eating a pack of wheat crunchie crisps as there was a crisp which had been burnt and at first glance i thought it was a bug and threw the bag about 10 foot in the air, i sent the crisp back for fun and got a voucher for a multi pack - how nice

On the down side I more recently emailed Sainsbury's to complain about the service i had received in their canteen and got a rather snooty email back, so no more eating the local Sainsbury's canteen for me :(

Did you have to tell them any details of the product?
