-Barclay's gave me £50 after appalling service (losing my application, asking me to wait a few minutes which turned into over 2 hours). I was fuming. They ignored my first complaint letter, which I dropped off to the branch in person so so I resent it to the Ombudsman a month later. Took 3 months and they still didn't respond but they put some cash in my account.

-Boots - massive screw up on my online order. Double charged me, delivered to wrong address, told me they'd only charged me once. Finally when parcel arrived it had wrong stuff inside and I was still waiting for a refund on the double charge. Staff repeatedly giving me wrong information saying their finance dept never charged me etc. After a strongly written email they refunded both my charges and gave me my order free (worth about £45).

-No successes with Royal Mail or Arriva bus, despite repeated problems with them!

no they don't. i have complained yesterday after very bad service and got a reply today with apology, saying £15 vouchers are coming in by post. not bad for £25 spent.

and the letter with vouchers arrived today.
now that was a fast and a very good service.

Anyone have a postal address for Orange UK where complaint letters could be directed?
    Many thanks.
  • By far the most useless company I've ever complained to was NTL, has anyone ever had a successful complaint to them?
In my student house last year I enquired about getting NTL broadband installed - they sent a guy round who told me they needed to drill through the wall (which no one had told me when I had enquired) so, it being a student house, I said I can't damage the walls. He then gave me a consent form for my landlord (incase I changed my mind) and told me that unless I contacted them they would assume I didn't want it.
I never contacted them, 2 months later they started taking money out of my bank account. So then I had to call them (from a mobile as no house phone) on numerous occasions to get my money back, and was told they cancelled my account. (Given I'd never had it installed I don't know how I had an account)
Skip forward a year, I go back to my old house to pick up my post, and I've got 5+ letters from the debt collectors asking for the £150 odd I 'owe' NTL, for broadband they never installed!!!! The last letter said that I had to pay by X day, which happened to be the next day after I picked up the letters.
I panicked, called the debt company, they were useless, so called NTL. Spoke to a nice lady who ASSURED me that my account would be closed, I would have no further problems.
So, after wasting endless amounts of time and money calling NTL to cancel a service I'd never even had installed, I felt I should write to them to complain.
Skip forward a few weeks and I get a call from some sort of manager at head office, calling to apologise and inform me that he's closing my account. Funny given I'd been told that sooooo many times previously!
So that was that. NTL = suck
