i received £3 coupons plus lots of samples after praising atrixo hand cream.

i received a £5 voucher from cadbury after a box of roses contained no nut chocs - my fave.

i am being sent £15 voucher from pizza hut after my take away order was messed up and manager was rude and did not resolve the problem.

i also received a £15 voucher after kwik fit fitted my tyres the wrong way round - tough outer wall on the inside.

i have only started complaining after reading this thread but ONLY if it is warranted. I am also equally likely to praise service/product when deserved.

I complained to Cathedral Cheddar recently after opening a pack with mould growing on it - yuck.

Got a £5.00 cheque and a voucher for a new pack.

I Recieved a free packet of trident chewing gum a few weeks ago.its not out in the shops yet and i was part of their email so i asked for some.It was strawberry smoothie flavour.HORRIBLE i made me feel sick eugh! I wrote them a letter saying that the very least i expected was a letter and an apology buy they have not even sent me an email! Very upset :(
maybe because it was a free packet?

i can see you'd like a reply from them, but being 'very upset' is a bit overkill isn't it?
    helpful tips
    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)
  • I went to Slug and Lettuce last month for my birthday, we ordered drinks but then the waiters kept ignoring us. After 30 minutes i found the manager and he told us to have our drinks on the house but was too busy to look into the matter.

I emailed him and after checking the cctv, could see we were kept waiting but we werent flagging down the waiters in the correct manner:eek:, he was short staffed that day and the waiter that was serving had the flu.

I was offered a free meal at his expense, and to call him to arrange when i would like to come in. But i feel like im imposing. Me and my husband have worked in the catering industry for years-me especially, and i did not know to this day that there is a specific way of hailing a waiter for service. Im also pretty disgusted that he allows his staff to work whilst ill. That has put me off going ever again.

I'd like to hear others verdicts on this, would you go for a meal at the managers expense?

There was one occasion many years ago, i went for a meal with some friends, we had booked in advcance, sat in the bar and a waiter said they would call us to our table shortly. Well, being with friends and having a good time you dont notice the time flying and eventually we asked someone when we would get seated, they said the kitchen had closed ages ago:eek: This was in a hotel which had a posher restaurant too(which we couldnt afford lol) but they got us a table there and gave us a meal on the house. But i feel this is different to the S&L issue, we werent made to feel like it was our fault for being forgotten about or ignored.

Edited to add, my dad is a trained silver service waiter and even he thinks its wierd.
  • In response to zztopgirl, I don't think it is good etiquette for the manager to expect his customers to know the correct way to flag down a waiter, but I think it's slightly vile that your server was allowed to work when he was ill. I would think that such things would be kept from customers. He probably only said that the server was ill so you would feel disgusted and not go back for your free meal. It's like finding something nasty in a burger or something and the manager offering you another one (~Hello? I just got one and it isn't satisfactory, having two unsatisfactory items won't make it any better!~)

    Anyhoo,
Can anyone tell me more about innocent smoothies policy? I tried their smoothie of the month from January (beetroot, apple, ginger and pear i think)and thought it tasted disgusting. If the bottle promises to taste good and it doesn't, am I entitled to a refund? Or a voucher for one of their smoothies that I do like? I like all the ingredients seperately but together I couldn't stomach even a mouthful of it.

i need some help, i went to au naturale in bury yesterday and purchased some throws which were 75% off but i got charged 50% off, i wasn't too bothered as they were still a good price, i did point this out to the SA who said the throws were only 50% off, i also bought a filled pencil case for my son but was asked not to open it by the SA because i wanted to check what was in it, she told me the contents were written on the outside,
i got home and some items are actualy missing fro the case, phoned the store and they have told me to bring it back in to exchange but i don't live too close by so iasked me to post it to them but wont post me the postage, the only reason i phoned is because my 5yr old really wanted it should i complain in writing or forget it for the sake of afew pens:confused:
    any advice appreciated

Christ, I would have been complaining at the £18.00 more than anything! That is pure extortion!

Yep, I emailed innocent about a month ago about a strange tasted smoothie (my 3yr old says, as I dont drink them) and they were exceptionally nice. They asked me to provide them with some codes off the packaging (which I didnt keep so promptly trotted off to Asda to find ) and on doing this they replied that same day and said they would be pleased to send me a selection of 12 smoothies to try and what day would i like them delivered as someone had to be in to sign for and put straight in fridge!

I got a berry 6pk and a orange 6pk of the kids smoothies sent in an ice packed box 2 days later by Citylink on day I had arranged - thanked them obviously :T
