I've complained to Richer sounds before. I bought a home cinema system advertised as multi region. I got home and found that it wasn't. After several trips to and from the store i decided on a full refund. I wrote to Julian Richer explaining the poor service, out of pocket for parking, and the several hours i had wasted travelling to and from the shop (an hour each way). I got an apology and £20 of vouchers. i bought a cable for my home cinema that i purchased somewhere else.

I complained to the local council when the refurbishment of my block of flats went from 7 weeks to 8months. i had painters coming through my home so they wouldn't need a tower scaffold and many other things. So i asked how muich my reduction would be instead of asking for a reduction. i received a reply apologising and a reduction of £250.

If something isn't up to scratch it's always worth complaining.

Keen photographer with sales in the UK and abroad.
Willing to offer advice on camera equipment and photography if i can!

They are not obliged whatsoever to sell you any items at the price displayed. They are well within their rights, no matter how unfair it may seem, to charge you whatever they want at the checkout.

That said, most stores will agree to sell it at the price displayed, but you may have to pay the higher price before you can complain to get it at the advertised price.

  • Does anyone have any experience of complaining to the DSA about their driving test? I haven't heard anything back after I sent them a letter.

During my practical test the examiner told me I had driven at 30mph in a 20mph zone, but the signs were not yet erected so the speed limit was still 30mph.
  • I complained about poor service in pizza hut and got a free meal. I didn't feel the manager was taking me seriously because he was laughing when i told him, so i contacted HQ who sent me vouchers.

I complained about a high street record shop who played a song with swearing in a midday on a saturday (i was with my 2.5 year old, he's copying what he hears), they sent me vouchers (didn't use them).

I complained to dominos pizza when the delivery driver walked up my drive smoking over my pizzas, then flicked his still lit fag into my garden (the store were useless, emailed HQ got refund and vouchers) PS: i do eat food other than pizza, honest :oP

I went to buy a DVD for my OH in a special presentation tin. It was £15 and available online ONLY but was out of stock. I waited 3 weeks and it was still not in stock, i emailed them and they said they weren't having anymore in (distributor problems). My friend said she'd seen it in the high street branch so i went in and it was £23.99. They'd had a lot of demand so sold it in store because they could charge more. I emailed and complained about the discrepancy they sent me vouchers for the difference and my train fare.

I picked up a s e x and the city box set in tesco, in a security box with a £9.99 sticker on. The DVDs were 3 for 2 so i chose 2 more. Got to the checkout and the box set went through at £29.99, the sales assistant saw the sticker but didn't say anything. I paid for the 2 and got the cheapest free. Went to customer services and complained, got accused of tampering with the price when it was in a sealed plastic box. Got a full refund for the £29.99 and got to keep the item, so i got 3 dvds and paid for one in effect.

I bought my son a branded baby sleeping bag from an online shop when he wouldn't keep blankets on. They delivered quickly but within two days it was evident that a press stud was faulty (the press stud holds the bag in place over the shoulder and stops them being suffocated). I emailed because customer services was £1.50 a minute. I emailed again and after two days i still hadn't heard anything. In the meantime i had to go and buy another one from the high street (about a tenner more expensive). In the end a week went past without hearing anything. Being on maternity leave and having a baby that loves to sleep, i emailed them every hour on the hour for two days straight. After that two days, they sent an apology, posted a new sleeping bag and refunded me for the one i'd had to buy. The didn't want the old one back so that went in the bin. Although to be fair they said something along the lines of "now leave us alone, it's bordering on harassment" lol.

I do only complain at genuine bad service or shoddy products. I take a persistant and tenacious approach, if they think they can get away with it then they will.
