I recently complained about not having enough green points for reusing bags in tescos. The Lady at customer services said that if you bought ten items and put one item perbag we would not give you ten points, fair enough but my complaint was I had three bags why couldn't I get three points? Her reply was that your bags need to be filled to the top even if they are heavy and hard to handle. I think this is nonsense I shall be complaining because its not logical to pack a bag to the top and not be able to carry it out of the shop.

your thoughts please. defeats the object of green/environment friendly.

It is nonsense indeed minap nowhere does it say this on advertising or in-store about these terms. It is unfair if you are doing your bit not to be awarded these points. I know it may not be a lot of money in point terms but these things can add up. challenge them on their "Green Credentials" which are very dubious to say the least. We always double bag our shopping does that not mean i have reused on average 8 bags per shopping trip. Did a little digging here is what the tesco website says about the points
We all know we are using too many carrier bags. That's why from now on, we'll give you a Green Clubcard Point* every time you re-use a bag. It really doesn't matter what kind of bag it is. As long as you're helping the environment by not using new carrier bags, we'll give you Green Clubcard Points in return.
  • complained to sainsbury's as there is a security camera placed above the changing rooms. totally horrified when mid bra trying on I noticed it above my head! Asked the assistant about it, and was told not to worry, it was not working. however, on emailing customer services, I was then told it was indeed working but not to worry as it was fixed point on the electrical products on the other side. Was given £20 in points for my distress, but I will be choosing a changing room more carefully next time!
The sign of a wasted life is a tidy house, Welcome to the chaos!

Hi, i used to know someone who worked for TGI Fidays head office. He said that any complaint received by the head office gets an immediate food voucher to spend in a restaurant again so if two of you have dined for £30 and did not enjoy it and you did not want to complain on the night as they would prob only give you one meal free...keep your receipt and write to head office explaining all problems you had with the meal , service etc etc and just say you were a littl embarrassed to complain at the time but you would like it brought to their attention........ they will then send you out a £30 voucher that can be used at any tgi fridays restaurant!! easy as that!! so thats 4 meals for the price of 2 overall!!! this works 100 % guaranteed.

    Hi all MSE'rs

Wanted to start a post where peeps could share their experiences of writing complaint letters & whether they got any result (and more importantly any free stuff!)

Am a bit of a one for writing letters myself but have had mixed results. It seems some companies are only to keen to dosh out freebies whilst others, even when you have a really serious geniune complaint are downright mean.

Doesn't have to be complaint letters either, many companies give away free samples if you write and ask, particularly if you say something nice about them!

Looking forward to reading your stories.... :D

To those who are writing in calling all those who complain scroungers please refer back to the origional post.
Moneysavinmonkey is asking who has got any freebies because they have complained. That is why most people are saying what they have received free due to making a complaint. If you are offended by any of the replies I suggest you dont keep reading the new posts.

Just a quick plea for a bit of advice.About 3 months ago I purchased a snazzy Philips electric toothbrush from Boots. It said if you are not satisfied with the results in 28 days, you can have your money back. I tried it, was not satisfied as did not see any results from using it. Phoned Philips, they said take it back to Boots. Did just that. Member of staff was not too sure, called manager over. Asked me what the problem was. I explained re: money back and call to Philips. The manager was very very insulting. "You can't really think you were going to see results in 28 days"; and she also said something along the lines of "Stupid person, who does he think he is". After 15 minutes of glaring at me, she told the member of staff to give me the refund, and I heard her having a laugh at my expense with someone else behind the aisle. I have never been so insulted in my entire life. Though it has been over 2 months, do you think I should complain? I have not set foot in that Boots store in case I see that vile creature again. Seriously, you would have thought I had attacked someone or theived a whole Boots store with the way she reacted. Also, if I complain, who do I complain to? Has anyone got an address or something? Thanks.

And whilst we are at it, does anyone know the contact address/email for L'Oreal? Though the first 2 bottles of Anti Dandruff shampoo treatment worked for me, the 4 I purchased a fortnight ago are actually GIVING me dandruff. I think I should have a rant. I spent over £15 on them, so I think I am entitled to. Anyone got the address/email?Ta muchly.

No - but it should be moved to another board
mine refer to the grand mariner fiasco which is running under the other board

like many i applied for the "free pitcher" which was on their website

they failed to deliver so i emailed their senior prtners and never got a response.

hence i called him and told him i wasnt impressed and he said that he would get his assitant to callback which she did

she sent me the pitcher that i had been waitiing for a a £20 bottle of grand marnier as well as a apology for their behaviour .

I complained to Lloyds Mastercard for keeping me on hold for so long and the lady credited my account with £5! I wasn't going to complain because I'm a doormat but I'm glad I did now!

You should definitely complain to Boots, they are a huge company and you should make that manager accountable. You should get her name and the store address and write to head office. You may only get a letter of apology but the manager will get a telling off. The same thing happened to me in a vintage shop the other day, the owner told me to stop picking things up if I wasn't going to buy them!! I couldn't believe it! Unfortunately he's a small trader so I don't think there's anything I can do. Anyway good luck! (This is related to an earlier post someone else wrote)

Thanks love. I will write a letter. I have never had a problem with Boots, they are normally really pleasant. It's just on this one occasion. I'm a very experienced mystery shopper, and it's just a shame I don't mystery shop Boots, otherwise I would have had her done good and proper. If anyone knows the Head Office address, let me know. Otherwise I will look it up tomorrow and put pen to paper.
