I complained via email to wilkinson's about an ironing board i'd bought. its cover had come away from the foam backing and the elastic had gone completely within a month of buying it.
this morning i received a very polite letter of apology and a 10 quid voucher, so i was able to go buy a new ironing board cover.

I have had to complain to NatWest a couple of times recently - once earlier this year when I was claiming back credit card charges from them. As I hadn't kept statements for 6 years I paid my £10 to get copies and they sent them to my address but with no name on the envelope! It wasn't a problem but if I lived in a communal building or something anyone could have accessed private information. I thought this was bad as the info came from their Data Protection department!

They refunded my £10 and sent a case of 12 good quality bottles of red/white wine which I was very happy with! I went on to claim back charges of £600 from them which was everything I had paid in charges in 6 years!

Last month I complained regarding my Current Account as I had made some online purchases on my Switch card and they decided that this 'wasn't in line with my usual spending pattern' and thought this could be fraudulent activity so they blocked my card and never called to tell me! I was in a branch the day after this occured and wasn't advised either - I didn't find out until after visiting the branch when I tried to get cash out to pay for the car park - and a nightmare 30 minute phone call to the bank being passed around 4 different departments to resolve the problem.

This delayed meeting etc during my working day and was an inconvenience so i complained and they gave me £100 as an apology! More importantly they gave detailed explanations as to why things were so complicated and fully addressed the issues I raised in my letter. I appreciate they were taking measures to protect me and my account but it was more complicated than it needed to be and such an inconvenience!

Another good result and in my experience NatWest are excellent at investigating problems and responding quickly.

Just wondering where i stand on this one... my local supermrket are selling something that is six months over its 'best before' date. are they allowed to do this?!!

Did you buy something past its best before date without noticing that caused you discomfort/injury? Then you probably have a case to seek some compensation that is proportional to your inconvenience.

If you've noticed its for sale in the shop, then you don't stand anywhere. Why dont you just tell the owners that they shouldnt sell out of date things? Thats what I'd do.

i have complained about some cheese and they have sent me a replacement pack in the post, sent 13.9.07, received by me 17.9.07. is this a health risk as not refridgerated (they did put a tiny ice pack in with it but it was melted) i am not happy with the cheese sent ordinary mail and there are health issues here. any ideas how i can word a letter to the company about the replacement cheese and am i correct in thinking cheese should be refridgerated and cool at all times?

cheese should be kept cool preferably and as it is dairy, dairy can be quite horrible when it makes you ill. food poisoning from dairy isn't fun! :(
  • I made a genuine complaint to Halifax who (over the telephone) promised to switch my student account from abbey and said they would give me hundred pounds on top. They also said they would match my overdraft. I went into the local halifax branch to sign the forms and I was told it was not possible to switch a student account or match my overdraft. They had actually opened me a standard current account and set a low overdraft limit on it.

I got a letter to day with a funny explanation (student accounts were not even mentioned!) the letter stated for me to sign for £25 compensation as full and final settlement but i dont know if i should. They promised me £100 - should i take the offer or tell them its not on, they have messed me about for 6 weeks over this matter.
