Complaint Letter Successes

NoIf I have a problem with anything I buy I usually write to the head office to complain. More often than not I get money off coupons or cheques refunding more than the product has cost. My teenage daughter was recently given a fake £1 coin in her change from a high street store and the cashier refused to exchange it. I wrote to the head office and received £25 of Primark vouchers. The best result was when my washing machine started to "malfunction" 2 months before the guarantee was up. The service people insisted that they could not find a problem with it but held onto it until the day after the guarantee ran out. Two weeks later it wasn't working again. It was took away again but stopped working a week after its return. As the guarantee was up I didn't hold much hope but I tried writing to the store it was purchased from. I received a phone call telling me to go in and pick a new machine. I thought this was a great result as I would have been happy if they had just fixed the old one! You never know until you try, just write telling of your problem without sounding to annoyed, make it sound like you're trying to be helpful by pointing out the fault, I find this gets you better results.0

I find that I'm generally being helpful anyway, so I don't need to angle any letter to try get "better results". Afterall, all I would want is compensation for what had gone wrong. Compensation based on a complaint should not be a freebie...it should be assistance to fairly remedy a problem.0 -
my 1st post.
I have had quite a few successes when complaining but I think one of the most enjoyable was when a local supermarket had a shelf full of beer that just happened to be way out of date- I bought 8 cases for a party, didn't want to be greedy - imagine my disapointment when guests turned up and I noticed they were out of date and it was too late to return them that night so had to buy from a dearer off licence for the party :-)
Returned on the Monday to complain - their policy at the time was double your money - this was a refund of what you paid and the same products again but for free.
When they checked, they were all out of date so they actually gave me a double refund.
Needless to say - I had a real party after that LOL
Always worth checking for dates on slow selling products - they least you will get is a replacement.0 -

Usually it states on products to return them to where they were purchased from for a refund. All I was trying to say was that if you write to the head office instead you usually get back alot more than just a refund.
ie. Wilkinsons charged me for 2 bottles of bleach when they should have been buy 1 get 1 free, I didn't realise till I had left the store. Instead of complaining to the store I contacted the head office who sent me a £5 gift voucher. Surely this was a better result than a refund of 60p! Also instead of returning some loo paper back to Asda I wrote to their head office explaining that it didn't flush away very well, they sent me a £6 voucher because they were grateful I had pointed out the fault. Had I just taken it back to the store I would have only got a refund and head office may not have been notified about the fault.
I was just trying to be helpful and point out the best way to go about getting more positive results. I did say that I would have been happy if I had just got my washing machine repaired but I was extremely grateful for a new machine and the store where I had it from were grateful I had informed them of how unhelpful the service department had been.
If you're happy with just a refund thats fine, my comment wasn't aimed at you but to those who are never sure wether to complain or not or how is best to go about it. By better results I don't just mean comphensation I mean in the way people respond to my complaints also. It's nothing to do with "angling", I was only giving my opinion of the best way to go about complaining, I thought that was what this whole thread was about!
I hope someone finds my opinion helpful, "angling" for something makes me sound like a bit of a scrounger! (Although by visiting a freebie site, aren't we all ?!):rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

NoHas anyone complained about Felix cat food ?
I have just done my weekly shop and when I got home I opened the box all the pouches were open and there were maggots crawling about
I rung them up and they told me a speel about how they will have got in there and they will send me out a letter of apology - nothing about replacement.
I then rung the supermarket and they said they will give me a straight refund.
Thanks PP XPlease remember to say Thank You if I help you0 -
NoHi
Ive made a few complaints in the last week, first was to Huggies as I usually use Pampers nappies the shop I went to was out of stock so thought id try Huggies, one day my husband was changing my daughters nappy only to find that the nappy had leaked out of the sides (and it wasn't just wee) so I wrote an email to Huggies and they appologised, hinted that we hadn't bought the right size (even though my daughters weight is in the middle of weight guide for nappy) but offered vouchers anyway.
Second was to Tesco's, I joined tesco baby club and got a voucher for a baby begginings basket (free with purchase) went to my local Tesco's looked at nappy aisle where there were plenty of signs for the basket but no baskets so went to customer services, they said they were out of stock and had no intentions of getting anymore and said you will have to go to the next store (6 miles away, no transport, 2 buses there and 2 back) I asked if they could find out if they deffinately had one and possibly save one for me as I didnt want travel all that way for nothing and he said nope sorry too busy (too busy talking to his mate), so contacted Tesco's they said sorry but I suggest you do what they suggested to you in store, not happy at all, I know it was a freebie anyway but as I said to them you shouldn't advertised an offer in a store if you cant provide it in that store.
Last complaint was to Avent, as me and my husband have noticed some of the baby bottle have been leaking, me, my husband and my mum have all made bottles to see if were doing anything different but still leaks everytime, so emailed Avent to be told we are assembling the bottles wrong and giving me a description on how to do it "correctly", exactly the same way we are.
I didn't complain expecting to get something for it but I think Tesco's and Avent could have been a bit more helpful.

Pizza Hut .....i see the new Pizza Hut in Gosport Hampshire has tel no 08700 666186
Nearly 10p per minute and are making money from your call, could they consider lowering their prices of their Pizza's etc to be fair to their customers? The local takeaways i use do not do this ,why should a big company like this have the cheek to do this i won't order Pizza there.
Thank-you for the information that you can find the number on the internet
princessmoneysaver .
A lot of people use the flyers that you put a the board in your kitchen
as its fast ,some people don't have computers .I think Pizza Hut would
be respected as a company if they could use a local tel number like all the rest do.0 -
