Interesting article about cannabis farms here:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2009/jun/13/cannabis-farms-buy-to-let:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

I'm not taking the pee, just wondering if they might have turned 'odd' and be building an underground shelter... Remember seeing a programme some time ago about a man who had excavated the ground under his, his neighbour's property and the street causing the whole shebang to become unstable.

Dodgy or what!!
I wouldn't be happy with all that going on next door ~ at all.
I think I'd be doing some spying and then contacting the boys in blue!
The steam/smoke ~ did it smell at all? Are you sure that's not just steam from a tumble drier?? Mine is awfully smokey when you look outside!
Sounds like a flue from a combi boiler.
But then again, who remembers "The 'burbs"0 -

Just read the article after reading most of the thread, I'd seriously be considering a word in the local constabulary's ear. After all don't they advocate if you see anything suspicious - no matter now small or insignificant we should report it.
Better to report it and get it wrong than have it drag on, potentially being a drug farm and possibly causing the death of someone through drugs.....RainbowLiberty0 -
If it is indeed a canabis farm it is a very big fire risk, usually they tap in to the main electric supply so they aren't detected for excessive electric use.
TBH I would make an enquiry with the police station, they will not go round smashing the door in but they will pass over using the police helicopters thermal imaging camera and take a good look and do some investigation before proceeding. IF it is a farm there will be considerable heat around the property, unless they have gone to great expense to heat proof the house. The smoke you mentioned could be the extraction as the heat does have to be ventilated, hitting cold air would make it look like smoke.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

What you accusing me of??Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
I have to agree with others....I have seen a cannabis farm in a house (ooohh...god bless the 90's!;)) and it sounds EXACTLY like the set up....no snow on the roof would indicate that there is massive amounts of heat coming from the attic area...which is where most farms are done.
You also find that most dealers are not willing to pay for their own electricity so usually get it connected to someone else's supply.
You need to get the police onto this. You could do it anon on Crimestoppers...
It's nothing to do with personal views on drugs yaka yaka....your home could be at risk if the place goes up (but you won't mind - you'll be down the 24/7 garage getting the munchies in!!!:D)
Better to be safe than sorry surely?
Good luck0 -
Going back to the original bit of the post - the gate - the Party Wall Act cannot be carried out retrospectively!
And now to the developments within the post - Have you contacted environmental health about the nightime noises?0
