Me too, probably because of the secrecy and the fact it all seems to happen in the hours of darknessEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Presumably they reversed the caravan right up to it so you couldn't see it
Very sneaky
Personally I would get it removed it's the sneakiness that is unacceptable
Either take it down and tell them they will have to pay for the wall to be surveyed in case of breaching your damp proof and 2k compensation for their behavior or see you in court"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."
All truth goes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Then, it is violently opposed. Finally, it is accepted as self-evident.0 -
"Are all the windows blacked out?? They could be growing weed. Very odd though as you say."
This was my first thought too. My MIL who lives in a semi, complained about neighbours busy driling holes and hammering late into evening/ early hours, she never saw them, the property was rented, windows always dark. House had been rigged up as a cannabis farm.
I think I'd alert the police and they'll probably want to keep an eye on the place.
Are you sure it's the same neighbours living there?
Another thought crossed my mind.. they're not excavating the ground are they? I'm not taking the pee, just wondering if they might have turned 'odd' and be building an underground shelter... remember seeing a programme some time ago about a man who had excavated the ground under his, his neighbour's property and the street causing the whole shebang to become unstable. Mind you, more likely to be a cannabis farm.:A0 -
I can't help but feel you lot are getting me carried away ! But now I come to think of it, it has been YEARS since I saw a light on in their actual house (apart from the summer house and garage), no christmas tree, NEVER a light on, what do they do sit in the dark 24/7? The curtains ARE always drawn. I'm sorry, I am quite naive about these things - would this explain steam/smoke coming out of their house? Two years ago our other neighbours came rushing round at night to tell us our roof was "on fire". We assured them it wasn't but they made us stand in their garden so we could see what they had seen - it did appear that some sort of steam or smoke was coming out of our roof, on closer inspection from our back garden we saw that there was some sort of funnel (?) at the back of their home (perhaps their kitchen) and steam/smoke was pouring out of it? Does this make any sense at all?! Its not everynight just now and again.
It is definitely the same neighbours. Now and again someone will come and stay with them for a night or two, always strangers usually business type men (never the same men) with briefcases/suits, then they disappear. That wouldn't ordinarily be odd but these neighbours are like the Dingle family - not the type you would want to stay with. No sign of excavating/underground shelter building although something more like a Jaycee Lee Duggard scenario did cross my mind (because of the building sounds and the maze in that crazy man's garden)! Maybe they are just a bit strange? Maybe they "sleep build"? Maybe thats how the gate got there?
BTW on the subject of the gate - I have had a peek at by popping my head as far over our wall as I could get it now the Winnebago is gone (where did it go?!). They have not only nailed to our wall but sealed it in very messily with concrete - it is a right eyesore, all nails, rust and concrete!
So many questions going round in my head right now ...
EDIT: OK, just noticed their house has no snow on the roof but all the other houses do - could this be a sign of anything? I.e, heat in the house = no snow?
Also - they are very good gardeners lol!0 -
I think you need to contact the police, they could be terrorists. They are certainly up to something dodgy.I think the offending gate is the least of your worries.0

Dodgy or what!!
I wouldn't be happy with all that going on next door ~ at all.
I think I'd be doing some spying and then contacting the boys in blue!
The steam/smoke ~ did it smell at all? Are you sure that's not just steam from a tumble drier?? Mine is awfully smokey when you look outside!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
My BF's neighbour did the same thing (before he moved in). His bedroom is on that side of the house and every time the gate bangs shut the room shudders and if we are asleep it wakes us up. My BF gets on really well with them and has spoken to them - they try to remember to close the gate rather than letting it slam shut......but they forget, usually at 1am or when they are having a row!
missindependant - good luck with this - your neighbours sound like nightmares!0 -
I'll tell you what, next time I see it I'll stand in the garden, inhale deeply and if I start seeing Elvis I'll call Crimestoppers! Can't believe I started this thread about the gate and now I'm wondering if my neighbours are drug lords. I've been googling though and apparently its a big fire risk if they are operating a cannabis farm - I don't want to jump to conclusions but you have made me wonder now!0

Tell them to move those tatty dead plants in pots too.
As for the garage, I hope there isn't a hell of an explosion one day.
Edited to add, sounds like a cannabis farm with the no snow on roof issue.
Get the cops to have a look, I would.Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0 -
It was the bit about the 2 blokes living in the summer house that got me :rotfl:
Go to your local police station and have a word with someone there. It all sounds well dodgy iyam.Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000
