morning!
(((hugs))) to Diva, SunnyGirl and sunnyday
sistercas - hope your parents are ok x x
Poor DH came home a while ago to thaw out before attempting the country lanes - him and the other milkmen are angry with their bosses - they get no sympathy or help and moaned at for not completing their rounds:rolleyes: not given any help or even a shovel or grit! this morning it was so cold the milk bottles kept exploding from the force of the frozen milk:eek:
He's got next week off:j but they are trying to make him work as they are short staffed but he's sticking to his guns, he needs this break for his health and sanity.
Plans for me today are to drive the 10 miles to the supermarket to stock up then later make some quorn cottage pies for tea and the freezer. Washing is in the machine atm, have had a quick blitz through the house.
I'm working all weekend then I too have a week off from Tuesday:j
hope you are all coping and (((hugs))) to those who are poorly xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Sorry N9Eave, I can't see what multi culturalism could have to do with our ability to cope with snow?

I live in the highlands and the reason we are better able to deal with this weather is because we get it more often, just like your Wisconsin friends. I don't expect the English to cope with extremes of weather any better than they are doing as it is not a normal occurrance and there really isn't enough money in the councils' pots to allow for events like this. Even this far north we are struggling with the duration of this cold snap.
*Rant over*
It's colder than ever here this morning so OH has lit the fire already so I plan on dong the ironing in the living room today.
The hens have had their water defrosted and been given some warm cornflakes and the girls are despatched to school with their soup. I want to make a pot roast chicken for tea so I have veg to prepare for that and a few office calls to make.
Better go and top up the caffeine levels.
Welcome chocoholic :hello:

Good morning,
I have the house elf home again today. They are looking for volunteers to clear the school grounds. It won't be me as I have the start of a chest infection. Due to my siege mentality, which I sometimes curse, we are fine for everything at the moment. The cat did discover where I keep the toilet rolls yesterday, and made some indoor snow, but didn't make much of an impression on general stocks :rotfl:
We made cakes and shortbread yesterday (shared with my neighbours whose grandaughter helped). The shortbread has gone and I didn't get round to making the Twinks so I'll do both of them today. I took myself off to our local small town to shout at Barclays Bank in the afternoon or I would have had time to make the Twinks. Hopefully, after yesterdays cheque that I paid them for our mortgage has cleared I will never have to speak to them ever again (although the lady in the branch was as exasperated by the mortgage service as I was).
I've just made the cat and the child a hot water bottle each. Although the heating is on, the cat's hot water bottle makes it sit down and behave. The child just wants one because the cat has one.
Take care all of you and stay warm.
Sorry, just edited to add a big :T:T:T for Taplord whose job must be awful in this weather, yet is important to so many people.0 -

Morning
Not much going on here, cant get out for my daily walk, I figure its better to leave it for now than to risk injury on slippery pavements.
One surprising discovery I've made is that DH has been fibbing to me all these years! He has always maintained that he does'nt like soup and does'nt eat leeks. Well, yesterday I made leek and potato soup (told him he could have something else). He thought it smelt good so decided to try some, and thought it delicious!! I asked him why he thought he disliked soup and leeks, and he said he didn't know why.
Not bad after more than 36 years of marriage.:rotfl:
MSD (((Hugs))) You kept everyones spirits up one here, its time for us to do it for you

More likely to be that the bin lorry drivers double as gritter drivers, and are working overnight

Well said H-J, that's exactly how it is here
We had -9.5 last night, here on the Lancashire coast. Lots of ice around, main roads fairly clear but side streets are still treacherous. Managing not to go to the supermarket, even though I work right next door to a big Mr T's, by working through the contents of our freezer....meals are getting more "interesting"
