OS DAILY FRIDAY 8th January

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Friday 8th January. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Good morning all :hello:
Well after not being able to sleep the night before this i went to bed early (well 9pm) only to be woken by a phone call from a friend at 12am! so here i am two cups of coffee later wide awake
It has been snowing again for the last hour and we have around another inch :T
Am just about to put the wm on as everything is taking so long to dry at the moment.
Schools are shut again today and dd's school are asking for volunteers to go help clear the playground and paths in the hope they will be able to open on Monday, that's all fine and well until it snows all weekend again :rotfl:
Well the plan for today is to try and get some sleep at some point, dinner tonight will probably be hm pizza as it is just eldest ds and i, i really need to find something else quick and easy to make as a treat as it seems to be pizza every week
Hugs to those in need, stay warm and safe and will probably (who am i trying to kid) pop back later.
Leigh xx

Hi everyone
I won't do a big long post but I am thinking of everyone who needs love and hugs today especially SunnyGirl and Bitsy and Cranky.
Tris is not so well and my cat Treacle had a fit about an hour ago so I am a little preoccupied.
I will come back later if I can.
I hope you all stay warm and safe in this bitter weather.
Diva.xTo be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.0 -
Oh Diva huge hugs for you hun, you really are going through the mill at the moment.
My thoughts are with Tristan and his family.
And being owned by four cats myself plus two who have sadly passed, i know how distressing having a poorly baby can be.
Again so sorry and please take care of yourself today, will be thinking of you.

Morning all,
I cleaned the floors & house out this morning as well as catching up with MT Washing. I now have MT Ironing to do. DS2 arrived just before lunch  so had lunch with us. He brought up his shaver so I could give him a haircut. I must say I did a good job & it really looks good on him. I tried to talk DH into me doing his too but he's getting the hairdresser to do his tomorrow. Spoil Sport.
DH decided to harvest all the carrots today :wall: so I'm just going to make batches of soup in the slow cooker starting tonight & freeze portions. I defrosted the freezer as well. It was so iced up, it took only 10 or so minutes for it to melt.
We have high humidity here again today.
Hope everyone has a lovely day & <hugs> to those that need them. ByeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

Sunnygirl - still thinking of you
Jayward - Hope you doing ok
My DD trying to get to college today. Her dad has just taken her to the bus and we pick her up later today on the outskirts of the village. I think my other two kids will be off today but the school dont let you know till later:mad:
I made a HUGE syrup sponge pudding that took 4 hours to cook! It was yum and good stodge. I had eggs to use up !!
My dogs howling like wolves at the moment. It must be the snow - they have reverted to wolves. Hope your cat is ok MSD
Hugs,
MollyxxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning All
(((Diva))) so sorry to hear of your troubles this morning.
We had more snow also and its all glittery with the frost. All the night drivers did ok so that is a big relief. DD's school is definately shut today - they made the decision early for a change so I can let her sleep in which will give me some more peace. Just want everything to get back to normal now!
Little bit of everything today - some washing, housework, ironing and paperwork. Will start the bm in a minute and get the salmon out of the freezer for tonights dinner.
Didn't manage to get out yesterday and don't think will today, renewed my library books online but I have no books to read now and I get tetchy - may have to borrow DD's Twilight ones.
Maybe will try and upload my Xmas photo's today, DD & I bought a scrapbook and a few embellishments (sp) as we wanted to scrapbook Xmas & New Year - not done it before but one of my resolutions was to be more crafty.
Anyway, time for a little surf before start getting on, have a good day.x0 -
morning
sooo cold , fed up with all this snow and cold
DMum phoned last night to say their pipes have frozen and so they have no heating or water  they have a electric heater in the bedroom and they have an electric blanket, and she is wrapped in several layers but they are in their seventies -its worrying ( she lives 140 miles away from me and the roads are treacherous too so they wont come and stay here)
DD2 is on a school trip to London this weekend and the school have said its going ahead -my nerves are going to frazzled this weekend
day off today so I dont have to trek to work through the ice and snow for a change :T
1st day back at school for the DD's so I am hoping to whizz through the house and tidy it up while they are out
need to make some bread
Diva hope you are ok hon , I am worried about you - you are not your usual self x
(((hugs))) to all that need
hope everyone has a good day xx0 -
Morning.
I am back after a USA holiday and jet lagged so can't get up in the morning. Good thing for insomnia I guess.
Work today and then 4 days off, what a life...... School is shut again day 3. No rubbish collection either. I spent over 2 weeks in Wisconsin USA in snow and -21 and no problems we get a little snow and we can't handle it...... I thought we were British? Perhaps we are now too multicultural?
Have a good day and keep warmNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning everyone.
DS slept through :T bless he gets a sticker today for that - seems suitably unimpressed with that :rotfl:
Heating was still on last night, even though according to the timer it had switched off. I am dreading our next bill, due to the frost setting on the boiler I can't switch it off if the temps too low. This is just going to push up our monthly payments which we can't really afford
The picture taken by NASA showing the UK totally covered in white is a bit freaky http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_depth/8447023.stm Never seen the whole country looking so white!
I feel for those of you in the Highlands -21 degrees
Think we're having baked spuds for tea tonight.
Mindee coming today so no real OS going on as will be too busy entertaining her
Diva - sorry Tris isn't doing so well and sorry about Treacle xxx
Heavenleigh - I really hope you get a decent nights sleep soon xx
flutterby - Bit late to tell you now but I watched a programme about beating Jet Lag and you are supposed to not eat at all on the return journey home and then have you first meal at local time when you arrive back (don't fancy starving the whole trip back from NZ though!). It's suggested that the food clock helps readjust your body to the change in time zones.
Hugs to all of you that need them. Have a good day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife
