Hi O_M,
just wanted to say that I have read this entire thread this afternoon & wow! I am so inspired.... I hope you are feeling a bit better & have taken a little time for yourself every now & then. I discovered that Paul McKenna's "I Can make You Thin" cd sends me straight off to sleep! (and i often struggle with insomnia)... Sadly, hasn't made me thin. At all. You sound like an incredibly strong & motivated person - I am hooked on reading your diary now....0 -
O-M
I'm sorry to hear about your car...
Stick to your guns re.O/H and don't be bullied into buying a car you DON'T want.
Sending happy thoughts...
ANd usually when you start taking 'happy pills' they take a few weeks to work (I know, I had them after baby number 1)
Good luck and PM me if you fancy a chat,

Well.........I have a new car.....i spotted one on fish4cars yesterday and called and arranged to see this morning. It's a 1994 VW Vento. Couple were selling it as it had belonged to their son and he had moved to Australia. It has 140k on the clock, but I only do about 2k a year and its only a stop gap until I get my back pay to buy an automatic in the Spring.
It's in very good condition. The house it was at was HUGE (in a very posh part of Poole) and it had been looked after well, the lad's Mum had been driving it around. 12 months MOT, new battery.
It was on at £395, which was fine anyway, but the tax runs out at the end of this month. So, my OH bargained hard.......and I got it for £275!!!
The only tiny tiny thing is that the steering wheel is very low and I have to twist my leg/ankle a little to use the clutch. This is my weak leg (which is why I need an automatic) and I can feel my leg is a bit weaker than normal. i'll have to see how it goes, but other than that it is fine! It's like a Golf with a boot.
Phoned up the insurance and my premium has reduced by £2 a month. Not a huge amount I know, but it all helps.
Still feeling ill. felt very shaky all day and the glands in my neck are still swollen.
Need to crack on with AQA as i've not done any yet today.0 -

Glad you got yourself sorted with some transport. Sounds like you got yourself a bargain!
Would you mind telling me how well the AQA pays as my OH and I were thinking of applying so that we can reduce our debt on one hand and evenually buy our first car on the other. We could probably do 10 hours each a week.Skint- Gall

Hi skint-gall
AQA pays 30p per question. You can earn up to about £8 an hour when your speeds increase/busy times of the day or evening. i've just quickly averaged out last month's earnings at £6.50 an hour and £7.70 an hour so far this month. You would have to register to pay tax as a self employed person. Give it a go if they are recruiting in the UK at the moment.0 -
Somehow I have well and tryuly messed up my budgeting for the month. Goodness knows how, but i've got £5 left in my bank account.
I've got £20 of my AQA money left for the month and the £12 I found in my Nat west account. So, £37 left for the month. Whoops.......
Couldn't quite think how my AQA money had gone, the car was £275, the MOT failure certificate was £40 and I have £20 left. £335. Just remembered though that I had £50 in charges applied to my account, which ate into it.
Job of the week - get the £50 charges refunded.
Need to go shopping today as well. I'm going to use my remaining £20 from AQA and withdraw the £10 from the Natwest.Scrabbling around in my purse has given me another £5. So I've got a week's shopping to do for £35, which won't be a problem.
Woke up with a headache again and my neck still has a lump. I'm mildly worried, as I've been taking the penicillin for a week now.
took the heavy winter quilt off the top of the wardrobe today and it is very dusty. It won't go in the washing machine and I did think about replacing it with a Tesco Value one as that is just as cheap as having it washed at the launderette. Don't have that money to spare though, so I'm going to pop over to the OS board for any ideas about cleaning it up.0 -
I put the duvet on the airer outside.....the wind blew it over into a puddle.....:o
So, I had to spend the money after all. It was £9.97 for a Kingsize, which is cheap, but was £9.97 more than I wanted to spend, so the shopping came to £53 in the end, but i've got enough food for about 10 days or so.
Printed off the forms on the DVLA website. I can get a refund of one month's road tax on my Carlton, which is £16. I'm going to change the struts over on the boot and ebay them so that should get me another £10 or so. My OH offered the battery to my neighbour's son yesterday for £10 as he was going to buy a new one for £50 and mine is only two years old. I felt a bit awkward, as he did it without asking me, apparently they are coming round today. To be honest, as it is the neighbour's son, i'd rather give it away.
I can also get £25 for a car place to take it away, so I should end up with £50 or so.
Made some Tiffin from some ingredients lying around yesterday from a recipe I found on the OS board. Also made a huge dish of pumpkin pie filling courtesy of Bunnies recipe (cheers Bunny!!) I decided to experiment and just bake a dish of the filling without the pastry. I now have a fridge full of sticky chocolate squares and enough pumpkin pie filling to feed about 10 people!!
The recipe was fab Bunny.......:)0 -

I thought I'd put those two statements together.
Be generous when you can afford to be generous. You're giving him a battery for a fifth of the price of a new one. He likes that deal and is willing to pay that. You are in need of a little boost to your cash-flow.
