  • A bit of good news!

my pay banding has finally been sorted.

Everyone across the UK had to have their jobs evaluated and it should all have started on 1 Oct 2004. However, as these things normally do, it has dragged on and I am one of the last where I work. It means that , eventually (probably early next year as payroll are very behind) I will get a payrise. I will definitely get one increment, so will go from £24,472 to £25,818. On top, I will get this raise backdated to 1 October 2006!!! I may even get two increments, I don't know yet, but that would be £26,700 !!!!

As soon as payroll do the sums and I sign the letter (another month or so) I will get my new salary, so I definitely will get a raise of between £50 and £100 a month depending which increment I am put on, but then a fewmonths later I will get the two years worth of back dated pay !! Woo hoo!!!!

(Need to try and have a go at working out how much it will be later)

  • I've put a plea out on the tax board to try to help me work out (very roughly) how much back pay I will get. I won't know my new salary for about 6 weeks, so there are still 3 possibilities, but it will be over two years worth by the time I get it in my salary so I'm a little bit excited but am a bit of a numpty when it comes to tax!

  • No replies to my post on the tax board about how much back pay I could end up after tax and NI :( I'm guessing around £1200-£1500, but Idon'twant to get my hopes up in case I'm completely wrong.

Got a part settlement cheque from capital one today for £72. They will have received my letter today telling them its all or see you in court. The cheque is dated the same day they wrote offering it, so they obviously didn't want to bother waiting to see it I accepted it or not. I'm waiting for some advice on the CAG board, but I think I will be returning it with a letter.

I heard an advert on the radio this morning for a savings account with 7% AER and for the first time I think in my life, I thought about seriously saving. Once the bank charges come back to me, I will have cleared my unsecured debt. The money I was paying each month can go onto my loan and will take it to 60 months. I don't think they go any less than that, term wise.

I'll then have my payrise - somewhere around the £75 a month, from maybe December/January. The eventual back pay will be squirrelled away, but I must replace my car, it makes a terrible racket and I'm not sure will reach 190,000 miles (I'm heading towards 188,000 at the moment!!). I won't be spending more than £1000 - £1200 tops.

I'll then have my AQA money each month. If I aim for, say, £500 - £600 a month, I will need somewhere to put it . I will be using some of it for a few bits inthe house, but I would like to put it away to be in a position to get an early settlement figure on the loan in maybe three years.

Savings - a whole new world!!!
  • giggling to myself.......I get lots of calls from dodgy loan companies (because of multiple applications in the bad old days through the internet). I'm TPS registered, but it doesn't seem to stop some of them (indian call centre ones). I know it will be them because the line is quiet and then they ask for 'Mrs' then my christian name. In the past they have had a blast of any awful music I can find (often Kerrang), a turned up Big Brother argument, or the phone left on the table while they rabbit on.

I've had two today and I've played the Forest Gump card. Soooo funny.'HUH? WHAT? Don't Understand!' said loudly - the guy today played back - it was funny - he wasn't going to give up - he tried his intro after a few 'What's' from me.

me - 'HUH?' Don't understand' (said slowly)

him - ' Don't understand? What language do you speak'

    me - Huh?

him - 'LANGUAGE' (shouted slowly) My name is and I am calling from Capital finance....

    me - Don't understand

him - you don't understand? Oh my god. Is.. your...husband...there...?

    me - HUH?

him - are you the lady of the house? LAY-DEE????? (I stifled a giggle)

    me - What?? Don't understand....

him - I want the owner of the house - do you understand?? Are you the lady of the house? I want to save you money on your unsecured debts.

    me - HUH? I DON'T UN-DER-STAND (loud and slow)

him then I bid you good day madam

    Phone goes dead.............giggle............

dear me spud, your DFD.......   :rotfl:

    I know

It is improving though. At it's worst, in June, I would've been 125 when I got to my DFD.

They way it is now, I'll be 63 :o Hoping to knock it down further as soon as Christmas is done with.

I am saving any extra non regular income that comes in, and will repay a debt at a time as soon as we have a bit of emergency money behind us.

    We'll get there, honest :D
