Postal Deliveries Shambles

Just a quick thread to see how you are all getting along with postal deliveries in this inclement weather. I would be interested to hear what the weather is like in your area and if the postie is still coming through.
Reason being we live in an area that has barely been affected (my theory is due to the knockon effect from the airport). Yesterday after a night when we were meant to have 7 inches, we had only a light dusting. Today it is bright and sunny and not even as cold either today or overnight. Much of the snow that fell has melted/been cleared/grit or salted or moved due to pavement usage. Yet for the second day running we have had no postal delivery.
I know that there are Royal Mail vans and trucks going by and have seen deliveries on local streets and in the town centre. I also know people who have personally had postal deliveries in their office which is one minute walk from here.We are one minute from the town centre and 10 mins walk(in fine weather) from the local sorting office.I walked further than there yesterday so know what the route/paths are like.Plus it was much worse in February when we had a LOT more snow and post still got through.
No point trying to phone as they never answer their phone anyway.I think it is a case of people skiving off work.Buses and tubes are running. paths are covered so may slow them down but they ARE walkable.nd our recent local postie is a young lad so cannot blame old age or lack of mobility. So I am wondering if it is a local lack of work ethic rather than genuine difficulties causing a lack of delivery. I have no doubt that some people much worse affected are getting deliveries.

We have had quite bad snow here but we're still getting our post. The snow on our street is still about 10" and doesn't look like clearing any time soon.
Has no-one else in your street not had any post or could it just be there's been nothing to deliver to you.
My post today was all bills so if you want those you can gladly have themIf At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00 -

Can't believe that anyone would not realise the greater picture"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."

I do realise the great picture thank you very much but in my area we have had next to zero snow and also as my post stated I have seen with my own eyes in the last couple of days both Royal Mail on the road and posties at work in the area. I live not 10 mins walk from Sorting office as again stated in my original post and yesterday in the so called worst of the local snow actually walked past sorting office on both legs of my walk and it seemed to be operating as normal - I saw many postmen coming and going from it. Perhaps I should watch the news that shows other areas much worse affected rather than believe my own eyewitness account of my local area.:rolleyes::rolleyes:What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -

Actually I dont watch the news./ I find it depressing at the best of times and now life has a number of huge serious issues for me I have bigger concerns than things that dont affect me.

It's wonderful here! I took a wander down the seafront earlier to take some photos. There is about ... I suppose at a push, half an inch on the pavements. Slightly thicker across the fields. No post now for 3 days. It is perfectly navigable with a teensy bit of care.

Well as you don't watch the news let me put you in the picture. The whole country has been gripped by snow and sub-zero temperatures. Most airports have been closed at some stage over the last few days, rail services are severely disrupted, public transport delayed or even cancelled and roads, even motorways, have been badly affected. Some people are completely cut off or can't even get their cars off their estates/streets, hospitals cancelling non-urgent ops and schools closed. Transport links have been very badly affected which means if someone posted you a letter yesterday in Scotland, the poor postie may not have even got to the postbox to empty it let alone take it to the local sorting office to be sent by air/rail/road to your local sorting office. As Custardy says, as you don't seem to be badly affected, take a 10 minute walk down to your local sorting office and have a chat with them there...I'm sure they will soon enlighten you.0
