    Can I watch LOL

You don't even need to go out and ask those lazy skiving posties who never answer the phone have a helpful regional guide to affected areas

    http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?catId=1000002&mediaId=99700760

Just click your region at bottom of page

Must be nice to live in a "local" world where nationwide events should leave you unaffected

I do realise the great picture thank you very much but in my area we have had next to zero snow and also as my post stated I have seen with my own eyes in the last couple of days both Royal Mail on the road and posties at work in the area. I live not 10 mins walk from Sorting office as again stated in my original post and yesterday in the so called worst of the local snow actually walked past sorting office on both legs of my walk and it seemed to be operating as normal - I saw many postmen coming and going from it. Perhaps I should watch the news that shows other areas much worse affected rather than believe my own eyewitness account of my local area.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I suppose like most people I ordinarily get mail from all over the country, so surely it is of little relevance if your own location & sorting office has lots/little/no snow. If the region it was posted IN is under 10" of snow the problem lies there (& is justified), not necessarily with your local sorting office.

We've had no post today or yesterday, but where I live the pavements are thick with compacted ice and it's very very slippery as we haven't been gritted. I'm 23 but haven't gone to work today, I tried but nearly fell twice within about 10 feet of the door. The reason I don't want to slip and fall is that I did some quite serious damage to my knee and ankle (at age 11 and 12) which required years of physio, I don't want to slip and land on my knee or twist my ankle as that would undo the years of NHS physio (and the year of private physio to remedy the damage the NHS physio caused)... Edited to add, my mobility is generally fine, I enjoy walking generally, however did not want to risk going out today, damaging myself and being unable to walk for a few weeks and having to be signed off work.
:D**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

I have been getting normal postal deliveries. But I am waiting on a mobile phone which has been sent Special delivery, should have come yesterday but didn't arrive. Didn't miss it as I was in all day and not had a red card.

We haven't had post for two days where I am. I am not surprised though as the roads and pavements are very bad. The majority of shops in town are closed so it's like a ghost town. The council have gritted most of the roads in town, but I think most of the staff live in the surrounding villages and are all snowed in.

See the post comes from central depots a very long way away from your "local" world but believe me they exist and many have had to close at points in time in the last few days, they are driven too by people in vehicles who have to navigate roads that are not as lightly dusted with snow as you "local" ones

Won't even go into the Health & Safety issues that have to be taken into account by law by RM bosses

I'm getting my post earlier than normal but the poor RM van that came to deliver parcels got completely stuck and a neighbour had to help them by throwing some branches under the front wheels to get a grip on the ice.

No other traffic is really attempting my hill at the mo as it is sheet ice and very steep, so I was very surprised to see the delivery van.

I am not really in any rush for it, as long as it turns up eventually.
