Can I just ask: my mum applied for this for my 10 year old brother. She received the form, and sent off her child benefit proof letter dated 2009. They sent it back to her and said it was too long ago. I don't understand this. I've look at the posts on here and it seems as though letters from 2008 are getting accepted even though that's more than 12 months gone, whereas 2009 is more recent. Anyway, she sent off another child benefit letter dated 2008 this time as I thought if everyone on here was getting theirs accepted, then my mum should too and still not accepted. My brother receives free school lunch meals so doesn't need to send off another letter. Neither me nor my mum understand any of this. I've told her to contact them, and I think she will do tomorrow or soon.
Has this happened to anyone else? What have other people sent off?0 -
It needs to be a Dec 2008 letter you send in.
I was told on the phone i could send in an Oct 2008 so i did, but it was returned.
So we had to wait for letter dated recently IE January ( when we applied to the CB for it).
Not sure why they wont accept yours from 2009 if they will accept an Dec 08, bloody government red tape eh!!0 -

She hasn't moved house or changed her name by any chance?
Or is something not right on the CB letter?0 -
BLi Education or Positive IT??
Decided on the Samsung R519, but...
BLi Educatin have extra free software for the children inc. in the package to help with school work etc.. but costs £547.99 in total with 3G network.
Positive IT have free 2 GB upgrade. No extra costs or fees on top. £528.00 in total with 3G network.
Which would you choose, is it worth paying the extra to get extra packages with BLi Education?
You can upgrade the laptop yourself...(told by BLi Education)
APPARENTLY there are downloads of free software for the children online...(told this by Positive IT)
*confused*
Need help!!0 -
we went with positive it, got 2yrs broadband (before it changed to a 2gb upgrade... would have preferred this i think), we didnt beleive the software with bli was worth the extra (but that is a personal choice our daughter is 11 and maybe useful for younger kids). positive it were fantastic have no problem recommending them
true you can upgrade, but not for free
yes there is loads of free software for kids onlineCompers challenge 2024 wins!!!!.... Oct £60... £10 free spins, £50 palm, m&m pouch0 -
i have just ordered the R519 with the 2gb upgrade , and no free software , can anyone who has received one of these please tell me do they have a parental lock on them ? i have ordered it from positive IT , is it the dongle that stops the kids getting on sites like youtube etc or the actual pc0

it has net intelligence which is a program that they will have added when you receive your pc and it will just need activating when you turn it on, doesnt take a few minutes, although i couldnt see the icon for a few mins when i plugged the dongle in but i was just beng impatient and it appeared in front of my face as i was speaking to the tech support guy
it is a parental control safety thingy that stops you being able to get on to certain sites, definately facebook wouldnt allow us on until i unblocked it, dont think it stopped youtube, not sure, but i think if you can take sites off it that you think they can go in then i am sure you could add sites to it that you dont want them to go on. a lot of people have had problem with not being able to go on sites and have disabled it, however like i said the only site so far it hasnt let us on is facebook and it took 10 mins search on the internet to find out how to add it to our allowed list. you have to add it to safe sites and allowed sites (not sure if they are the actual names but i had to put the website on 2 different parts before it was allowed).
hope you enjoy your family enjoy your laptop, we also got the samsung and my daughter has done loads of her homework on it and loves it!Compers challenge 2024 wins!!!!.... Oct £60... £10 free spins, £50 palm, m&m pouch0 -
