  • Hey, weren't managing to come out spenind about 5k, and we have spend 1k on the photographer! For that we've got venue, reception, drinks, buffet, dj, dresses, photographer, ferrari hire for the groom, cupcakes, rings suits, veils, shoes, favours and table decks!

YOu just have to shop around, we knew the one thing we wanted to spend money on was the photorapher as it is the photos that last, we also spend a good amount on the venue as i wanted it to be pretty! The rest i used ebay for, went to bridal shop sales and wedding dress outlet shops. Its easy to save on the little things like table decks, and we are making our own cakes and invitations.

Shopping around is fun! and its so worth while when you find a bargain!
Now a married lady and loving it! Now..to clear that pesky mortgage!
  • i agree with BeckyArch, shopping around is half the fun, i got married last year and managed to keep to budget, under £5000 (god, now that seems like soo much money! but there really is so much to buy for the day isn't there!?)

My dress and flowergirl dresses came from Monsoon, who do some LOVELY vintage, sparkly, lacey understated dresses for £200.00 and under - at the mo, there are quite a few in the sales (£60.00).

My mum made my cake (which, although cheaper - can still add up. I think the total - ingredients, large tins for bottom tiers was £70.00)

My aunt and i did the flowers, a selection of ones from flower shop, bulked up with flowers from the garden (the bridesmaid's roses came from Sainsburys!).

My mum, aunts, bridesmaids and i did all the food the day before. And we had an ice-cream van arrive after luch to provide ice-creams for everone (we had paid for these in advance). this was much cheaper then arranging a sit down pudding, and meant everyone could mingle.

We used a photography student from the local uni to take the pics - he only charged £150.00 as we gave him permission to use the pics to publicise his business.

It was harder work this way, but everyone pulled together and this made it more special as it was a real family event!

Even with all this scrimping the day looked wicked! it even featured in a local wedding mag as they saw our photos on the photographers website! so saving money doesn't necesarliy show. i think a lot of what you are 'supposed' to buy for weddings are a waste of money - just focus on what you REALLY REALLY want (a lush dress or something) or need, and dont bother with things that aren't important to you.

good luck with it all and have FABULOUS days!

we are getting married in just over 6 months and our wedding including honeymoon is going to cost about 6.5k but tbh that could be less if we needed it to be. We have decide what was important and put it in order. I have shopped about and got good deals. I know it may seem mean but we aren't serving wine with our meal due to £££ but at least that means we can have more guests.

Well done Becky - where is your venue and reception? The more I research into venues (in Italy not UK) the more I realise that its not as cheap as I first thought!

Ooo, white was easier to find, I looked at the creamy/silver colours due to the link you posted, those style of dresses often are those colours, was being dim not noticing they were both white :D Going out now but will link what others I found yesterday later.
