Has anyone gotten married or planning a wedding uk or abroad for less?
If so where and how much is it costing?
OH wants a cyprus wedding and is looking like 10k! I want a small cheap wedding but still classy....starting to wish we were not getting married!!!

    Yes we are.

    We are getting married here.

We are getting married at 4.30pm in a civil ceremony, followed by a few drinks and canapes. Then the specches and cake cutting. Followed by our 1st dance and straight into the party.

We are getting married on a thursday.

The venue do an evening only reception package for £20 a head which includes a buffet and DJ and accomodation for B&G plus linens etc.

The evening do is costing £1400,
    Ceremony room fee £200,
    registrar fee £250.
decoration of venue £300 (chair covers and centerpieces)

My dress will be £99 (bekertex £99 sale),
    suits 2 @ £70,
rings are FREE we have converted our tesco vouchers into goldsmith rewards.

We arent having a photographer as we have so many people in the faily that take great practically profesional photo's, my um is making our cake, im making invites, flowers are being done local for 2 bouquets and button holes £100. 1 bridesmaid £50 for dress and shoes. y friend is doing y hair and make up.

I have allowed £500 for all the little extras. Like wedding favours, materials for me making invites, cake topper, shoes, tiara etc etc.

We dont need cars, as we are getting married and eating all in the same place.

Then we are going on honeymoon for a week, havent quite decided yet, we might go back to ibiza (not very honeymoony i know but we love ibiza) were still young which will cost about £800 half board.

So a weding for under £5k is very doable.

We are hoping to haggle the price down a little, or at least try, but they are also pricing up a hog roast for us so it could go up or down depending on what we finally choose.

ETA: our plans changed and we are now getting married somewhere different and the budget has gone out of the window.

  • Yes! I am getting married in Sorrento, Italy in May and the total cost is around £2500. That includes flights, hotel, venue, wedding package, dress, rings, flowers, transport, drinks and canapes afterwards and also our party back in the UK. Depends on how big and grand you want it and how many guests....

Depends how long you have been saving, or how much you use the reward card.....we are planning to do that, we've priced our rings to cost us the equivalent of £254 in Tesco vouchers. This is achievable for us, as OH uses the Tesco c/c for his work expenses (travelling so fuel & hotels) and the monthly shop & any fuel for my car also come from there, so we can get between £40 & £70 of vouchers every quarter between the 2 of us.

Don't forget, you get 4 x the value in Rewards...

No we went last week and we walked straight back out again, the ring i had my eye on had miraculously disapeared.
Nothing was less than £1500, but then i twigged that it was valentines soon, so all the cheaper stock had been put away to make room for the more expensive stuff.

I saved £200 worth of points in 1 quarter totalling £800 in goldsmith vouchers. The ring i wanted was £599.

Then after looking i decided i didnt like any of them so sold the vouchers on and now have the cash saved waiting for me to find something else.
