congratulations to all of you engaged! Aug 08 was our wedding in lovely Welsh seaside town - and no it didnt rain! Budget was 2.5k inc hotels, reception, clothes, ceremony, prof photographer etc. Best bargain was cake at £22.50 enough for 50 people - I'd say go local where possible, little bakery, local florist, and it was on a friday which helped (since we organised it in 6 weeks!). Good luck everyone - moneysaving can lead to more personal touches, which actually mean more to everyone than big bucks spending!:money:0

marriage on the pitch of our football team, scottish SPLby a registrar. reception at a local hotel, wedding breakfast for 70 with wine and drinks for toast. evening reception for 200. cake, piper, cars, table decs, flowers, dress, bridesmaid outfits, groom/bestmen/ushers kilt hire, rings for £4500 total
We looked into getting married at a football ground. My future OH is a season ticket holder so gets 25% off. It works out to be really good value. I am really up for it, but my lifelong supporter fiance isn't. I think it would be hilarious.0 -

my OH is a lifelong fan and i wanted the day to be as special for him as it is for me! also the fact that i used to work there meant that we arent having to pay is a major plus!
he wanted the team colours as the theme, though the drew a line at that!0 -

No I think it's ace. Definately different. Think what is putting my OH off is that the ground is an hour away from where we are. The team colours are blue and white so that's fine for me. Hope it goes well, it sounds like it will be lovely for you.0 -

im really excited about it, i wouldve had the team colours(red and navy) but ive had my heart set on black and white for years.
were quite lucky in that the ground is only 10min away.
you could have it at your ground and have a reception somewhere in the middle?0 -
I am getting married a week sat and had everything, church and reception 84 people for 3 course dinner with wine and evening buffet for 120 all in it has come to 6500 - thats car dress flowers, everything. Got honeymoon with airmiles via tesco clubcard vouchers!!! we could have done it for £5k with a few less people - not always cheaper going abroad, better to go out of season or weekday here, good luck!0

We booked through Thomsons, for a week in Sorrento with the wedding package on top. The way we have kept the cost down is to cut down on all the 'extras', flowers are included in the package as is a small cake. All we are having is transport to The Cloisters, a mandolin player and a few extra corsages for guests. We are then having cocktails and canapes straight after (we are paying for) and in the evening meeting up for a meal which everyone will pay for themselves. We are only having 10 guests which has helped keep the cost down and we arent worried about having a photographer as my friend is good with a camera. My friends are going to help with my make up and hair and my dress was £120 from DebenhamsMy shoes I got in the sale for £20 and the rings came to less than £100
The whole reason we are getting married in Italy is because we didnt want a big fuss and we loved Sorrento when we visited last year.
Let me know if you decide to go for it :T
i'm going to visit Thomsons this weekend after seeing this hopefully. I've been looking into 1.wedding planners either in Italy or UK to arrange our Italian wedding 2.arranging it myself and 3.travel agents who offer wedding packages. I think the later may be better - they will hopefully take the stress for me (which I was adamant not to let get to me but didnt realise how stressful planning a wedding can get!) and who wont be as expensive as paying for a planner, so fingers crossed!'It is better to live your own destiny imperfectly than to live an imitation of somebody else's life with perfection' Elizabeth Gilbert.

I know its not 100% classy but sandals or beaches do free weddings when you book a certain rooms. If you check on hayes and jarvis there are a lot of places that do free weddings. I can pm you with a list of hotels if you would like?0
