... How'd you save that much? The dress I want is £629 but to be honest my whole budget for dress, shoes, tiara, veil is £700 so I won't be getting it. My shoes will probably only cost about £20 though cos I'm so tall I'll only be wearing flats.

I tried mine on in a local shop about 18 months ago... shop went into liquidation... liquidators put stock onto Ebay.... found it by accident.... got it on a best offer after a quick chat with them over the phone!

Have you asked what their "best price" is for your dream dress? Or tried anywhere else to get it for less?
  • No I haven't, will do that ta! Have seen similar ones for around £300 so I think it will be looking in a lot of sales and warehouse stock for me!

Don't forget to look on Ebay for veil & tiara...some HUUUUGE bargains to be had if you keep your eyes open ;)
  • Have you looked at Ramada Jarvis Hotels? They're doing various 'all inclusive' deals. Doing it that way means we can have a bigger wedding with more guests than we could ever have thought, even cheaper than previously thought! We have a budget of about £6K and my lovely parents are contributing £1K though hoping to spend less.

I know its not 100% classy but sandals or beaches do free weddings when you book a certain rooms. If you check on hayes and jarvis there are a lot of places that do free weddings. I can pm you with a list of hotels if you would like?

Thanks Laura, I did take a look but as they only offer weddings in the carribean, we cant go with that as we want some friends and family to be there have decided on italy as its closer and flights are a lot less. A Carribean wedding looks absolutely gorgeous!!

Cool - let me know how you get on :T I got quotes from a planner in Sorrento initially and Thomson came out loads cheaper. I cannot fault the service I have had from them so far right down to the lovely lady in the Cheltenham branch that booked it all and knows my name & the wedding date off the top of her head :rotfl: Their planners in the resort have been fab too and have responded to my emails within 24 hours if not sooner. In fact I have had more stress and hassle trying to sort the party out for when we get back than the wedding itself

Oh well its great to hear such good feedback, sounds brilliant. I laughed when you said about all the stress and hassle being with the party when you get back, (not because I think its funny youre stressed and hassled!) but I just thought, yea thats typical isnt it. As soon as its organising things with loads of people, bam, stress! This is why I originally decided to get married just me and the OH and even after I started looking into that option it didnt seem stressful at all, cos its only the two of you to worry about. But I changed my mind and decided I really want friends and family there - which of course instantly increases the cost!

  • Also it sounds obvious but browse, browse and browse some more! I'm the kind of person who buys the first thing they see, I very nearly booked the first venue I looked at! You can nearly always get what you want for cheaper elsewhere. I was quote around £350 for wedding cars, then I found a limo instead for £150 and they're chucking in stuff with it, so it really is worth shopping around.
