I hate my OR

Our Nissan Almera Tino is a family car. DH does just over 200 miles a week and uses just under £40 a week in petrol.0

£40 a weekyou claim you use in petrol does seem extremely excessive
Work - 11 miles each way, 5 days a week is 110 miles a week.
Parents - 7 miles each way, 4 times a week is 56 miles a week.
Trip to the shop every day -1 mile - 7 miles a week
So adding on other bits and bobs, 180 miles per week. And that costs you £40 in petrol? Even if you did 200 miles per week tops you'd have a car that only got 25MPG. So what you're saying is your car does only 21MPG doing the above? And you wonder why the OR doesn't quite believe you?
Knocking off your husbands travel from the £150 leaves £90 a month to do 180 miles per week. That is the right figure at the current petrol prices for a car that'll return an average of 40MPG which most normal hatchbacks and sub 2 litre ones do.
I fail to see where the issue is. I think claiming it cost you £40 a week in petrol to do 180 miles was quite frankly taking the mick. With my Ford Mondeo, if it cost me £40 a week to do 180 miles, it'd be in the garage to find out why it was walloping through so much fuel.
So i put getting to work and visiting my mum and dad and going to tesco.
what about going to hostpial appointments, doctors and physo
when I have to go to work in the morning come back over this side in the middle of the day for an appointment as I can't get one early or late in the day, then having to go back to work for the rest of the afternoon and then have to come home again??
Also i am not allowed to go anywhere other than, WORK, MUM & DAD's and TESCO????? IF Im not i might as well just kill myself cos whats the point
Oh and I do no motorway miles therefore my MPG is 32 (there is a thing in the car that tells me that!)
I've said it before I am wheel chair bound if I have to go far - I would class to far to walk is round a supermarket
My average money mileage is about 1100 - 1200
I hope you are not in any kind of ill health and If you not I hope you never become ill, but sometime I wish people who would judge could swap into my life for the day 51 dose of medication, waking up in the night needed the loo, but either can't breath due to chest problems or unable to walk due to bone problems, and then work 9 hours with upto 3 hours of traveling depending on traffic and see how you copeTotal Weight Loss - 28lb and countingAD 17/11/20100 -
Curly, don't get upset, they're posting to incite. Ignore them. We know your circumstances - they don't. I am with you on the petrol 200 miles at £40 a week. Don't worry. All it takes is one to have a go and the rest soon come out of the wood work. Just ignore them, seen them on here before.0

Thanks Micheh, and all the supportive people.
If the OR was right and not judgemental like some other people I would go a long with what they sayTotal Weight Loss - 28lb and countingAD 17/11/20100 -
Hi Curly,
Ive been following this thread, i am not an expert on these matters, But PLEASE dont let the odd individual upset you. There are some good people here as you know.
I am with you and hope you the best to get sorted.

Why someone would take the time to sit and do some maths to try to upset someone I have no idea. That wasn't his original post - his first was merely a question, then edited with all of his clever workings out.
I guess what he is saying is correct in a way - £40 is super expensive for 200miles but when you live in the country, small villages, mini roundabouts and junctions the mpg soon falls quickly. Motorway driving is so much different to country driving so that is why his facts and figures just don't add up.0 -
oh dear computerhack you really really dont have a clue do you?....I have mobility problems and have transport to help me get around and believe me when you cant manage without wheels its easier said than done...I claimed more than the OP in fuel costs & its NEVER been questioned
I really AGAIN have to disagree with your posts and correct you AGAIN...becoming a bit of a habit eh? who knows one day I might agree with you on something but i'll not hold my breath...oh and just for the record? I have a 1.6 Nissan Note that currently gets 22mpg around town thankfully we're changing in april & i've already ordered a more economical car...dont get me wrong i'd happily LOVE to walk everywhere but its impossibleWe all die. I am no expert on this one as I said but im with mich and phil on this one.0

dont get me wrong computertwit i'm all in favor of people who can pay into an IPA will pay...even those who try to cheat the system who get no help from me
its people like the OP who suffer through NO fault of their own
but hey...what do I know eh? (bet one thing though...you pulled the legs off spiders as a child)We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
