I hate my OR

My OR is a complete and utter joke!!
what bit of I am disabled and can not walk doesn't this guy understand!!!!
I just offered to get a letter from my doctor and send over a letter from the DLA to confirm this and he said that might not help
I've told him I use about £40.00 of petrol a week
I work 11 Miles away from my home, and if I need to go to a shop I need to drive as I can't walk
My mum and dad lives in the other direction from work about 7 miles. My mum has had a few strokes so for support for my dad I go up there 2 - 3 time a week
My husband works shifts, his bus pass cost £55 per month then about £5 a month on trams.
This works out at approx £233.33 per month, he is only going to allow us £150.00 for travel
Now I have an IPA that we can't really afford - he told me I had to sign the form which I did because he said If I didn't they would sign it for me, and I just dont know what to do..............

Hi Curly,
That's awful. I would complain! Is it the OR or an examiner you are dealing with? I would make a complaint because you don't have to sign anything - it is an agreement that you both have to 'agree'. Ask them to assign it to someone else and get it reassessed or take it to the judge to decide! Good Luck with that. I'd get the GP letter anyway. x0 -

I would definitely complain too. Tell them that you absolutely wouldn't have signed it if you knew that there was any choice and therefore you only signed it due to being ill advised and under pressure by the OR.
I cannot see how your travel costs are in any way excessive. Thats how much fuel & bus travel costs & if you cannot do it any cheaper surely they have to use discretion to allow it?!?
Stressful I'm sure but fight it... it should be worth it in the end. Good luck.0 -

Curly, please complain. He should not be doing this to you and I am so sure if he is found out that he's saying this or putting any kind of pressure on you he will well and truelly be ticked off. In my experience there are guidlines and rules that the examiners go through but my examiner told me most of it comes from experience and common sense. Your examiner is showing nil common sense and I actually feel from what you have said he's acting bullishly towards you.
I am all for an easy life, I'm fed up of fighting so I know how hard and frustrating it is but I feel you're being unfairly treated here. Please don't let him get away with this as he's in the minority - the IS pride itself i'm sure of the treatment towards BR's and he's not up to the job in my opinion.0 -
Sorry to hear that curly.
OR sounds unreasonable i would complain.
Good luck sizzler0 -
Hi Curly, I'd take this up further. The person dealing with your case is an exmainer, not the OR...his manager will be an Assistant Official Receiver. You can write to the Official Receiver and make a complaint or call and speak to his AOR.
The examiner shouldn't be giving you such a hard time over travel expenses, if you can show that is what you use and there's no cheaper alternative then that is what you should be allowed.
Also, they can't sign the IPA on your behalf. You're entitled not to agree and let it go to court if need be.0 -
Thanks everyone
I've been on multi map and got excite mileage for everywhere I drive. So I am going to make a list of all my jouneys and mileage and see what he says
Thanks again, I promise I've stopped crying and I've got my fighting head on.Total Weight Loss - 28lb and countingAD 17/11/20100
