  • I'm going to have a play with the Cheese & Potato Pie as a side dish.

Having recently had to go on to insulin (steroid induced diabetes), I'm trying to go low GI. So was thinking sweet potatoes, some onion and L/F chedder, with a toasted oat meal top.

Does anyne think it would work.

I enjoy watching cookery programmes but am afraid I can't stand these two. The thought of all that greasy hair dropping into the food. Completely offputting. Yuk !

I take exception to that actually. Just because they're bikers, doesn't mean they are dirty OR greasy!

I love the hairy bikers - one of a kind for me anyway! I love their approach to food and how simple they make it all seem. WOuld be tempted to get the book.

I really love the idea - cooking and recipes carried through families. I learnt to bake by my Mums Mum (my Gran, rest her soul), and as a kid I used to go up every saturday morning and bake with her. Brings tears to my eyes actually. When I was watching that show, I couldn't help imagine my Gran and what she would have made, and I could have imagined her in her tiny kitchen.

I guess the only recipe carried down as such would be her stew. My Mum has tried to replicate it and failed - but I pretty much seem to get it as close as I can. My gran used to remove the whole potatoes and mash , then return to the pot so it gives that thick - just about drops off a spoon texture. :j mum was annoyed I knew to do this, as Gran hadn't told her to mash the potatoes :rotfl:

I have a sign from her kitchen which says "grannys kitchen" so she is with me in spirit. SOmetimes though, I wish I could ring her and ask her silly things - she was great for that. :o

Makes me wish I had more of a cooking tradition in my family. My Mum cookd when we were kids but has got very lazy since it was only herself to look after. She can cook a roast dinner, but I think she tends to make very simple foods. In fact I know she does. She hates cooking from scratch and cant really be bothered with the dishes that accompany it.:rotfl:

When I have kids, they will be in the kitchen with me from a very early age, covered in flour :o

  • That sounds yum, can't believe I haven't got a tin in the cupboard.

I was just thinking the same - will put it on the shopping list for next week though.

I think they are a bit minging, I've said so on here.

NOT because they are bikers, just because they have long scruff hair they don't tie back & Dave is can be a bit minging sometimes in his habits & ways.

But I really like their cooking:D

    I have bought the book:D

The second ones aren't actually cheaper because there are only 2 in a pack.
But I think they secomd ones are better because they are so deep. For rosties & all sorts.

Zippychick, whilst youre waiting for little ones to invade your kitchen, can I come along and learn a few tricks? Please?
