I enjoy watching cookery programmes but am afraid I can't stand these two. The thought of all that greasy hair dropping into the food. Completely offputting. Yuk !

I still love them. I must remember to stop thinking of them as the 'Hairy a***d bikers' though, OH always calll them that, and he thinks they're great, and not mean't in a derogative way. He's what got me hooked in the first place.

Perhaps a man thing with names.

I've watched the Hairy Bikers since they were first on TV and doing their unusual cooking trips around the world.....Good food aside, I'm also quite partial to the big hairy biker type! Am just posting to say that using tuna/salmon tins as home-made crumpet rings seems a genius idea!! Have always been a keen baker but never tried making crumpets because if seems such a pain having to spend out on special rings. Will definitely be saving tins to have a go with that. In fact, am going to do tuna mayonnaise for tomorrow's packed lunches so I can start collecting them. Cheers for the idea!

You can use pastry cutters as rings for crumpets, fried eggs etc. Obviously place them with the crinkly edges uppermost...

Loved the programme, and after promising myself no spending this month have pre-ordered the book at Amazon, for my defence it is because it is a money saving of £8! Meant to be turning up on 18th Jan :j

Cassieanne, Which Be-Ro edition is it please? I'm a complete sucker for cookbooks & that one in particular appeals to me, (given your recomendation) but I just had a quick look on Amazon & there are a plethora avail! TIA :D
  • my mam (in durham) always makes corned beef pie and everyone loves it! whenever i mention it down here (blackpool) people look at you as if you're mad, even though it's not a million miles away from some people's hotpot that comes with a pasty lid....

i believe my mam boils potatoes and onions together in a pan, then mashes them together, adds cubed tinned corned beef, mixes well and then makes a pie with homemade shortcrust pastry. the pies are always always always made on dinner plates and are delish!
