I really enjoyed this and would definitely buy it if they released it as a DVD.

I thought that looked nice, but I guess it would just taste like cheesy mash?
Didn't fancy the samosas, I like mine in thin filo pastry.
But nearly everything else:drool:0 -

What are your 'Mum knows best' favourite foods? My lovely Mum doesn't much care for cooking, but does make fantastic drop scones We don't really have written down recipes though, we just seem to learn by doing. I agree about the cakes, and wasn't her kitchen gorgeous?:o

My mum isn't much of a cook but there are certain things she does very well, one of which is pastry which thankfully is a skill she's passed on to me! She used to make something which as a child I called 'dinner tart' and was just a meat, potato and vegetable pie which she made on a plate and was quite shallow. It was awesome but I don't think she's made it in years as my dad suffers too much from indigestion these days to be able to stomach pastry.
She also makes a fantastic vegetable soup which I've never been able to replicate, and also something that she calls Irish stew but which is nothing like 'proper' Irish stew (despite us being Irish) and contains beef, potato, carrots and onions and is the best thing ever on a cold day.0 -
I have this programme recorded and will watch later on today when I do my Ironing, they were on Loose Women yesterday promoting the show....Dave used to be a make-up artist and Si used to do things like parking cars and general behind the scenes things, they seem like down to earth nice ppl, watched their previous programmes on food and their new show sounds great. If I hadn't read this I may never have watched it, so thank you xx0

I only saw this by accident last night, as Oh had been watching the darts. But when it came on thought I would give it a go as I like the HB's and the whole concept sounded great.
I wasn't dissapointed it was fab. I loved the bit with the "eveolution of chilli" with that family lol. Thats REAL food people take parents and grandparents recipes and make them their own. The supermarkets have killed so much of that off it is a crying shame.
BTW the rec linked to for the lady's bran loaf is slightly wrong on the ingredients as they don't say how much flour to add after the rest of the mix has been combined. From last night it was simply another cupfull. Bet that mix would make fab breakfast muffins as well.
After watching this I remember making cheesy pie with toms on top at school, but have never made it since. Would be fab with baked beans mmmmmmmmm.
Fancy trying the crumpets too, but don't have any rings to cook them in. Wonder if I could save up old tuna/salmon tins (washed out and opened at both ends)?

I love the Hairy Bikers (Bakers?). They cook good food, and always seem to have fun doing so.0
