  • hi

just checked out the Girlsnight website and they are on at £88.95 which i think is good. you also get a free heat mat and shampoo. i ordered mine from there and they were about that price. at one point they were nearly £100 on there but it is the genuine thing. you do have to be careful.

Is the name of the website girlsnight.co.uk.I've never heard of it.
  • yes thats the one. they also sell TIGI stuff on it.
  • Hi, my ghd's broke recently. They were about 4 or 5 years old and had a good innings. However, I sent them back to ghd to see what they said. They came back to say that they no longer had the parts to fix them and as they were considerably past the 1 year warranty, however, they did offer to sell me a pair of ghd's direct for a "greatly reduced price". I've not rung up to see how low their price is but it must beat the salons etc and I am impressed by their reward for customer loyalty.

So worth a go sending them back to ghd and see what they say

Agree, they do seem to have great loyalty but they still don't beat Babylis who have a 5 year warrenty, just wish babylis's were as good- they have a red pair that almost met the grade, but were so bulky I had to take them back as they were useless to me. My friend has babylis pro230 and they are not as good as my mums MK1 GHDs (she got them about 8 years ago), ghd wins hands down!
  • Hi there

After almost 3 years together, my GHDs decided to pop their cloggs last week. They would work holding them one way, then go off when you moved them. After a quick look at this thread i decided to order a new cable from ghdsrepairs.co.uk via ebay & have a go at fixing them myself. Cable only cost £5.99 + 99p postage, so what did i have to lose ? Ordered cable on sunday night & it arrived this morning (Wed). Theres a video on their site showing you exactly what to do, followed this & i am extremely pleased to now say....They work ! !
Was very easy to do, & i'm hardly a DIY goddess.

If this had happened a few months ago I would have thrown them away & forked out the money for a new pair, but after discovering this site I am a new woman ;). Saved myself money & boosted my ego with my new found DIY skills haha !

So thanks to everyone on this thread who discussed repairing them etc, MSE's on here never cease to amaze me with their help & advice.

    Thanks !
Whats meant to be will always find its way...;)
  • Has anyone tried the wide plate GHD's?

I have the normal ones at the moment and wondered if the wide ones would do my really thick hair quicker. Amazon have them for £91.64 which looks like a good price

I'm no expert, but I would have thought they would do your hair thicker- I don't think you can get a huge chunk of hair and just 'go' but if your careful, you should be able to get a paddle brush and instead of an inch width to straighten, maybe can get two inches width at a time. Just don't make the width any thicker (denser)- just wider. More surface = more hair (width) at a time.

Just bought the mk4 normal ones from the girlznight website for £84 including delivery and free mat etc. They are official stockists for ghd products as per ghd website. Got mine from a link on hotdealsuk website, which gave me 5% discount....though the link was showing 10%!!
    Hope this helps someone
