Well my trip to the GP was a complete waste of time, he didn't care about me and I ended up getting angry with him and arguing that he should be doing more than saying 'I will refer you to get counsilling'

I have been refered so many times its getting silly now, if only they would follow through and I would get help.

I told him I've lost all trust in the NHS and that the system is obviously broken, he agreed and so I asked if he agreed why he was doing what has been done before which obviously didnt work.

He then tried to pass the blame on to me in a round about way saying thats its been 11 months since we last refered you why havent you come in sooner and that because I hadn't I was obviously feeling better.

I got so mad with him and his lack off help I just got up and left and now I feel worse than I did this morning, I need to find another way of getting help and I need to find a way of complaining to someone whos going to listen and care that the NHS has failed me

Hi angel - good cry then deep breaths ok?
Unfair as it seems, you do have to keep chasing things up or they do assume you're better no matter what the illness is.
Some people get angry when they don't feel they're getting what they need and that comes from frustration and/or fear.
You can get help via your GP. If he's only offering counselling hun, then maybe you need to be a little more assertive (not angry) or definite in what you've done, how you feel and what you're afraid you might do. It's a very emotional experience opening up like this but you have to persist and make sure they understand that it's a lot worse than before and that you need help now.
    Possible next steps...
    - Book another emergency appointment with the same dr but take a friend or relative with you who may be able to add more to what you say or just as support or to keep you calm. Apologise for your anger (though I do understand it angel) and explain it by saying that you just felt so desperate & you don't think you can wait much longer before you completely break down. Although you probably want to use him as a kebab right now, :naughty: , ;)it will be better if you can see him again. With an apology he will understand more how desperate you feel & why you acted that way. Tell hin calmly that you feel you need help right now & that you don't think you can cope and need more than counselling. Ask him for an urgent referral to be evaluated to the local CMHT.
    - If you can't see him, book with another GP if you can and explain as above.
-Call the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) in phone book and explain to them your situation.
    - If you hold anything back from any of them, they're not getting the full picture and you'll go on the back burner for a while.
    - As you're feeling so bad, call the GP's receptionist and tell her how bad you're feeling. Receptionists are a great source of knowledge...
    - You can put in an official complaint although to be honest angel, I think the only grounds you may have are purely in the fact that you weren't notified that they were closing your case and that this has led to a deterioration in your health.
Hope this helps hun. They've seen it all before and if he had passed it on to the people to organize the conselling then really, it wasn't his fault angel.
    - If all else fails & you're worried you might do something to yourself,go to A&E.
I'm thinking of you hun & if my 2 brain cells can think of anything else I'll get back to you. Just remember you were all worked up this morning and were expecting immediate help only to find out you weren't down for any help - of course you're going to be upset.
Hope this helps angel -big hugs x

    Thanks for you kind words.

I think I got angry because I've been promised I'll be refered for the last 4 years and have had two evaluation's with diffrent clinics and its never got any further just false promises of help.

I ended up having to go private last time but just can't afford to do that again.

I'll give it some serious thought I just want to know that I'm going to get the help but as you can tell don't really trust the system since I've been promised it so many times before.

Hi Slayerx - it's okay hun - you're not on your own;)
As I said, it's understandable why you got so angry. Don't go private hun if you can't afford it. You have asked the GP for help & for some reason he doesn't seem to see how bad you feel. :wall:
You have to be brutally honest & tell him everything in detail - or another GP there if there is one. If you say you're just finding it hard to cope & feel depressed, then you're not really expressing yourself. Is there another GP at the practice angel? You've got to persevere - we'll get thru this ok? :grouphug:
    Much love

I'm going to try go again and hope I see someone else with a bit more understanding, I'm going to wait a month as he suggested for the so called referal and if nothing happends then I will keep going until something happends.

Thanks for been so understanding Tiff, I was feeling ok until today I think it was the fact he didn't seem to care at all that got me mad and the way he expressed no real desire to help.

I'll get through this better with the support from here :)

  • Ooooo how awful Rose, having your wisdom teeth out, no wonder you feel C**p!! I have a morbid fear of dentists anyway let alone having to have anything done. OUCH! The last time I went I had to have a normal tooth out and that was bad enough, I think you are sooo brave.

Slayerex I'm sorry to hear that you have had a bad experience at the docs today. Tiff has given you some really good advice and I can't add to that, but I would perhaps see a different doctor, not all docs are good at mental health, I know in my practice there are 2 who are and the others aren't.

Tiff you really give some good advice on here and you are soo supportive of others, I hope you are taking good care of yourself.

Well being as I have started at Uni last week I now have homework to do and files to sort out. I think I have bitten off more than I can chew here, but my CPN told me that it would do me good to have another interest and to get out in the world, but my anxiety is soo high and I'm feeling a bit left out, all the other people in my group seem to have made friends but I am finding that part really difficult. Oh well I will persevere, the only thing I'm worried about is what happens when I hit a slump(and I know it will happen) how will I manage then??

Anyway I'm off to organise my files etc, load the washing machine, sort the dry washing, clean the kitchen etc etc.
Hope you all have a good night, Rose I hope your mouth heals quickly, hang in there slayerx.

    hugsssssssssss to you all
