laurajayne wrote:Hi all,
I'm new here, been lurking for a while.... I may be in the wrong place though. I notice most of you seem to suffer with depression 'full time' (if you know what I mean) whereas, I haven't....just lately....
You just all seemed so friendly, I couldn't help myself. I was diagnosed with depression today by my GP, but my symptoms seem so different you all yours....maybe he's wrong?
Flis...just seen your list...that sounds more like mine....
Hi Laura,
Just remember depression / mental disorders are very personal and different for everyone. We are very accepting on this thread of everyone's personal situation / condition. It is nice, however, if you find someone who has similar circumstances to you. If you ever want to chat please feel free to PM me and I will give you my email addy.Sorting my life out to give a better life to my:heartsmil 2 gorgeous boys :heartsmil0 -

Beauty? Do you mean the mania?
Yes, Infact when Im on the 'up' I love having my illness how weird is that?
Try not t take anti dep if you *think* you are BP, as this can induce rapid cycling mood swings and this was my pandoras box, that triggered this latest seeion off.:wall:Crazy Nutters Club Member 003 :wall:0 -
After watching that Stephen Fry programme I almost wished I had bi-polar. At least I would have the highs to outweigh the dreadful lows I get into . I just get lows and ok, no highs for me!Sorting my life out to give a better life to my:heartsmil 2 gorgeous boys :heartsmil0

It is better for a doc to tell you if you need to take or not take anti-depressants or any other medication. I wouldn't want anyone coming off their medication without talking to their doc.Sorting my life out to give a better life to my:heartsmil 2 gorgeous boys :heartsmil0 -

I'm gonna try and get a proper diagnosis, I think I deserve to atleast be seen by a phyciatirst. I want to know what is wrong.
PTSD is looking the most likely, I'd be shocked if I didn't have it.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -

BP is not up and down in 1 hour or 10...
Rapid cycling is usually mood swings btween 1 day and 1 week where you go up then become normal then go down....right the way across the spectrum of moods.
Rapid cycling isnt that common, it can be induced by drugs/drink/anti depressants though.
Most bipolars have swings lasting 3 months to a year of very gradual transgression:wall:Crazy Nutters Club Member 003 :wall:0 -
No one seems to understand the not being able to get up thing.
Its like my body is made out of lead, it just won't move.
Alot of the time, it feels like I'd rather die than get upStay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0
