  • Well have MS (which i can cope with 99% of time) and also clinical depression (which i'd got a handle on after loads of meds and counselling)

it does sneak up every now and then.

anyway to cut long story short was family get together y'day for nephew's 1st b'day. My folks don't really get on with my brother's in-laws (and there's lots of em.) But was really nice day

Took my mum n dad home before heading home myself, but before then my dad decided to go off on one about how i'd deliberately ignored all the in laws, was ignorant, antisocial etc (get the drift)

I know i wasnt any of them and my sister in law texted today to thank me for everything and helping, so that proves it. But when u have CD it doesn't take much to shatter fragile self esteem or tip u over

Soz to every1 if bit long winded

    Are we sharing symptoms?

    Mine are:

Insomnia (sometimes only 2-3 hours sleep a night)
    Nightmares
    Tearfulness (over anything and everything)
    Very low Self-Esteem
Intrusive thoughts (mostly about having accidents / dying)
Loss of sex-drive (Hubby hates this one!)
    Panic Attacks
    Severe Anxiety
Comfort Eating (Hence the weight problem!)

  • Hi all,

I'm new here, been lurking for a while.... I may be in the wrong place though. I notice most of you seem to suffer with depression 'full time' (if you know what I mean) whereas, I haven't....just lately....

You just all seemed so friendly, I couldn't help myself. I was diagnosed with depression today by my GP, but my symptoms seem so different you all yours....maybe he's wrong?

Flis...just seen your list...that sounds more like mine....

Feelingood, hun, some of your symptoms are staring me in the face...I was like that 1 year ago. What medication are you on? What treatment have you had hun?

By the way if anyone thinks they might be Bipolar too, or needs a shoulder to cry on, give me a bell, im really sympathetic, and have been to the depths of despair myself, and know a lot about mental illness generally...

    Hi Pesky Pixie,

Possibly you are suffering from S.A.D (Seasonal Affective Disorder). There are some special lights you can buy which simulate sunlight and are supposed to help relieve the condition.

Thanks. Have got one and it's been on 2day, it does help

Oooh, I've got intrusive thoughts. Stops me doing alot - I'd stand up for myself more if I didn't get thoughts about people dying everytime I try to assert myself.
Tearfulness too - I cry at the news every lunch time - why??

Flis, I'll give you some of my 12 hours sleep I get a say if you want!

I've tried seroxat and citalopram, but both induced what other people call physcosis. I don't remember tho hehe. Totally blank patches from my memory.
The hypersexuality is rather fun tho.
If it is BP, I wouldn't want to miss the beauty it brings.

I cry at the news, at tv shows, films, books, seeing a dog in the street. Almost don't need a reason if I am off meds. Luckily it is a bit more controlled on my meds, only cry about once every week, which is brilliant.

Yes please on the sleep front!! Meds do help me a bit, that and Nytol, which I take at least once or twice a week. I hate not being able to sleep, it is soooooo frustrating.

That's exactly what all the people on that Stephen Fry program said

That prog scared me, the amount of phrases he used that I've said to myself so much. :)
But, I can't have BP, that'd be the end of my marriage. But maybe that would be a good thing?
