  • That prog scared me, the amount of phrases he used that I've said to myself so much. :)
But, I can't have BP, that'd be the end of my marriage. But maybe that would be a good thing?

Got to admit it scared me too cos had got my head round having clinical depression. But then had noticed that although i don't have 'mania' or highs i get hyper active trying to do loads of things at once and flitting from one thing to another. and biggest prob of spending money on total !!!!!! (which seems like a real necessity at the time)

yes dont come off any drugs straight away, that makes it hell of a lot worse.

try to get in to see a psychiatrist at least, you may not get an answer but he will know what medication is best.

GP's dont have specialist experience, and use Anti depressants for a cure-all, they are overstreched and simply do not have the time/training to accurately diagnose most severe mental illnesses.

BP is not up and down in 1 hour or 10...

Rapid cycling is usually mood swings btween 1 day and 1 week where you go up then become normal then go down....right the way across the spectrum of moods.

Rapid cycling isnt that common, it can be induced by drugs/drink/anti depressants though.

Most bipolars have swings lasting 3 months to a year of very gradual transgression

She can turn in the course of two mins so she must have other stuff than Bi Polar.

There is something called cyclothymia, which is a milder form of BP (you wont find much about it on the net though) where you get only mild mania.

I had to go to a private Psychiatrist 3 times at #140 a session to get diagnosed, let alone treated.

Totally agree with that. My GP put me on anti-depressants, but it was only when I saw a CPN (Community Psychiatric Nurse) who referred me to a Psychiatrist that I got put on the anti-psychotic, which has been a god send. Don't know how I ever managed without it now.

Phil, hun, you wont be dependant, when you dtart picking up you will feel such relief, honestly. You will be weaned off them after you have settled back to your old self, doc's dont like to keep people on them for years if they can help it.

I'm scared to take pills now - I don't want to be plagued with suicidal thoughts again :(
