CCStar wrote:I get my school fears back when I goto communal sports places. PE was humiliating, sharing the changing rooms and showers. I wasn't that good at sport either, so felt it was a hotbed for bullying. I even got attacked by someone in a changing room at school for no reason.
I used to love swimming but there is always a person (usually a man) who hogs the pool and invades your space, pushing you out of their way.
I prefer to do exercise to uplifting music at home.
I'm trying to persuade OH to buy me a mini trampoline for my birthday so I can exercise at home.
I had the same thing with PE, I was terrible at most sports and was picked on for it, I was always the last to be picked for teams. I had all sorts happen in the changing rooms, things stolen out my back, my clothes and school books put in the showers. It was around that time I first started to self harm0 -

Oh yes, I forgot the being last to be picked and put with people who didn't want you or being in a threesome as there were odd numbers when everyone was in pairs.
Thankfully we don't have to do that anymore. There is plenty of exercise that can be done away from those places. An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

I would hate to be back at school now for that reason. In the end I got so fed up of PE that I used to write fake letters from my parents saying reasons why i couldn't do PE0 -
I better get ready to go to the doctors then, will report back anything interesting later.
Might try and find the MP3 player to make the walk a little easier0 -

flis21 wrote:Has anyone tried using exercise to help your depression? I read an article the other day that said it could help. Well I have looked into it and am thinking about joining the gym. Very scary as I am quite a lot overweight (well, fat really!) and it is a bit daunting, but I really want to give it a go. Has anyone else tried it and did it help?
It's meant to help, although havine been depressed all my life, and also been gyming for my whole adult life, bar the last 2/3 years, where I have been on/off, I wouldn't notice the difference, as i'm very big built anyway.
For me, it's about weight loss. I tell you all I am fat, but in reality, I need to lose around 20lb's of weight. I've got a very big build, but when you stop doing as much exercise as I was doing, putting on 2/3 stone is very easy, as you have to eat lots when you bodybuild.
It is daunting if you feel low. If you do join a gym, try and find one which won't tie you in to a 12 month contract.0 -

Hope to be able to get online at some point to catch up with you, other wise, take care all of you
Flis - I lost about 5 stone in the past couple of months with 2 hours exercise most days - don't know if the exercise made me happier, or if I did the exercise cos I was happier.
Take care all of you's

Take your time.
If you don't feel up to it, what do you have to do to avoid it? Phone work, doctor's?0 -
Bunnie1982 wrote:Not feeling good at all at the moment, I have really bad stomach ache and I have to walk 40 minutes to go to the doctors this afternoon for a check up which I really need to attend. I have no other way of getting there other than walking.
I generally feel at the moment like packing a bag of clothes and disappearing
Good luck at the Doctor's. The fresh air may do you some good. Hope it's not wet and cold though!0 -

I stayed in bed until about 20 mins ago..........feels safer. Feel I can cry with no-one knowing.
I'm very down, but flatmate and I talked last night instead of me going bed early, we talked about both of us.
She's trying to understand, but I don't think she understands alot of it, as she's not been through what I have.
How are you? You work too hard!0
