MSE_Archna wrote: »HI all,
Yes that's correct. You're signing up and paying for the three month package but the £30 cashback you get will effectively cancel it out, making it free. Here's what Quidco says:
"We’re not actually offering a free trial. What is being offered is a reduction equal to the initial sign-up fee of £29.95 that any new WeightWatchers online customer needs to pay. The customer will still need to use their credit card to pay £28.95 for the three month plan (although this is effectively cancelled-out by the Quidco cashback.) As long as this plan is not cancelled within the agreed three month period, the customer will receive their cashback."
Ah, that explains why my Quidco account says the money has been validated but I haven't received any money. I joined in January, but only had about 12lbs to lose, so had no intention of continuing after the 3 months.
It looks like I would be best to leave my membership for an extra month, so I will get the £30 back.
I think it would help if the Moneysavingexpert website explained this a bit more fully, because I wouldn't have bothered if I'd known.0 -

I really need to lose some weight again but to be honest i feel embarrassed going back to the same class (the only one i can actually get to) and seeing the leader again, which i know is stupid... What i would like to know is how the meetings compare with the online plan, has anyone done both...how did they compare, which was more sucsessful... Just worried i wont stick to it if i know i wont have the weekjy weigh in... Thanks in advance
I've done both. I lost about 2 stones to get to my goal weight 10 years ago, going to classes. I think it was useful to learn about eating properly, and I quite liked the discipline/incentive. I've kept the weight off for the most part, and when I feel I've put on too much, I have managed to lose it by myself, by just going back to the same plan I learned at the classes, and writing everything down. If you go to the classes, you get various tools and calculators, which you can use by yourself. I still have mine from 10 years ago.
On 2 occasions when I've gone up by about 12 lbs, I've used the online plan. I think it's great if you like measuring and recording everything you eat, but you do need the facility to get onto the PC a lot during the day. I get a bit fed up having to start up my PC later in the evening. [I don't have an iphone/ipad or anything, so it might be more convenient if you have one of those.]
The problem with the online plan is that you only have access to the calculators and food points lists while you subscribe. If you get to your goal weight and cancel, you can't "do it yourself" later if you need to just lose a couple of pounds.
I would go back to the classes again, and don't worry what the leader thinks! She/he will just be glad that you'll be boosting their attendance figures! Good luck!
While I'm here, I would like to say that I have been a fan of WW for 10 years, but I'm not very impressed by their new Pro Points plan. I don't like it as much as the old plan (WW introduced the new plan at the end of 2010). My weight was creeping up following an operation, so I'm using the online system for the second time. I'm sure I'm following it properly, but am not losing the weight consistently. The online system has a good community discussion section, and it seems that quite a few other people are finding the same as me. The weight loss seems to be less than with the old plan. People that are trying to lose a lot of weight seem to be happy with it, but some people like me, with just a few pounds left to go, are saying that their weight loss is inconsistent, minimal or they're even putting weight on.
I did pass my comments back to WW, who replied to say that I couldn't be following the plan properly.0 -
Hi, I've just signed up for the 3 months free weightwatchers deal but couldn't find anywhere to enter a discount code, now I've recieved an email from paypal saying that I'm being charged £29.85! Is there anyway I can still apply the discount code or cancel my subscription to stop the charges as I've just signed up about an hour ago or will I be charged either way?

Just to say thanks!
Both my wife and I joined online for free and just received back our 3 month payment from TopCashback PLUS the extra £4
A result and I've lost 18lbs :-)

:eek:I was with WW a few years ago and had considered rejoining but the online offer was too tempting! I signed up yesterday. I'm very confused as to the new points. I have the old books and the points bear no comparison to the old one. I was trying to cook a meal yesterday and the site seemed to have no list of basic foods with their point count. Wherever I searched I could only find branded foods and tried to work it out from that. I finally found spaghetti bolognaise randomly on a pasta promotion page but the search found neither spaghetti or bolognaise or both! The recipes you can add which is good - but I want a list of basic foods with the new points to print out - anyone know where to find one on the site? I realise its probably me - as a newbie I don't know what I'm doing - but there doesn't seem any way of asking either! Not impressed so far- but will persevere.0

Hi! Did you join as an eSource/Online member (did you pay a fee) or just joined as a basic online member?
If you didn't pay then you will not find any lists of foods and ProPoints value, all you can do is go to one of the forums and ask a question, very slow and tedious.
If you did pay then everything is there, resources, list galore, menus and no end of advice.
I am no longer an eSource member as I am now a Gold member having lost 51lbs :-) and I go to the meetings as I no longer have to pay!
If you have a smartphone , either iPhone or Android you can get an app called Ultimate Weight Watcher Diary, it costs £2.49 and is the best about, well worth the one time payment.
Hope this helps.

First of all - I'm delighted to see that another Man is contributing to a forum about Weight Watchers !
I joined WW back in 2004 and lost about 2 st but in the intervening years have put it back again. I rejoined last October by attending a new local group meeting and paying by cash. Shortly afterwards I decided to opt for the online eSource which actually costs less than if you pay at the weekly meetings. I can still attend the weekly meetings. As Chris rightly says, once you reach your goal, you don't pay any more, but can continue to attend weekly meetings just to monitor your weight.
On a different note, WW is expensive IMHO and if you can benefit from this Cash back deal, then do so. Their products are also comparatively expensive and whilst appearing attractive (particularly the range of items ONLY sold at weekly meetings, not in the shops) do check the Points ratings. 4 points for one biscuit out of a daily allowance of 30 is a lot. Some Lower Fat products in the shops are often better for you Points-wise than WW's own.
What I would like to know is - why don't WW make it more appealing to men to involve themselves in weight loss? I find the meetings to be very "girlie" and not sure how much longer I will stay for them after weighing in.0 -
hey I was wondering when the new cashback deal goes live...MSE weekly email said today but topcashback only showing the £15 cashback and not the £30 cashback. Does it go live at a particular time? Cheers for your help x0

I was going to ask the same question. I've just gone online and it's the same for me. Does anyone know about this £30 cashback with Weightwatchers.0
