I find the meetings quite useful - seem to help me along when the weight isn't coming off. I usually forget to carry the points slider with me when I go out shopping so I've been using my iphone. There's a few apps out there. I use FoodScoreCalc. Anyone found any others?0

There is a way of getting Slimming World for minimal cost. SW does not stipulate any target or goal so you can set your target at whatever you like as long as it's a minimum of half a stone less than your joining weight. You only pay until you reach that target and you can continue to attend meetings until you are 3lbs either way of your target. When you are more than 3lbs below your previous target, you set another target at half a stone less than the original target, which should only take a couple of weeks of paying to reach. Then when you reach that target, you don't pay again until you are 3lbs below your second target. Then you set another one and so on. If you go over your target weight by more than 3lbs and don't want to pay to go to the class, you can keep track via the website. Pick up the password by having a search around online. Each password works for at least a fortnight.0

As I was thinking of joining WW just after Christmas, I took advantage of the cashback offer available at the time and joined up.
I've now lost 1st 5lbs and think the online tracker is great. I set a reminder to cancel my DD at the end of the 3 months but have decided to continue the membership as it seems to be suiting me.
I not that someone else said they're now paying the £9.95 per month - this is the price you pay for paying monthly but you can reduce that if you elect the 3-month subscription again. You then pay £24 for the 3 months, which is what I have done.
I tried a meeting several years ago and found it a complete waste of time. The online membership means you have access to points info etc 24/7 and the people on the forum are really helpful.
Certainly worth a try!0 -

Just thought I would let you know the problems I have had with Weightwatchers, I wanted to open 2 accounts for my children aged 14 & 17, we joined after doctors recommendation in January, I was told as they are under 18 they could not have an internet account it is against the law, and I could not have more then 1 account in my name. Children are allowed to join weightwatchers from the age of 10 with a doctors permission, they are charged 55p less then an adult which at present is £4.95, the child rate stops at the age of 16, so for my son I have to pay £5.50 per week, I can not get the monthly pass until he is 18 at which time the weekly rate will drop to approx £3.95, they do not do a student rate, only under 16 and over 60 concessions, My son could be married and or fighting for his country but can not get reduced rates at weightwatchers and they are not prepared to even discussed this with me every letter I write is answered with it's against the law to have an internet account if under 18 and do not answer any of my othee queries0

Both Slimming World and Weight Watchers are in business to make money. They make offers knowing that people will forget to cancel the DD and/or will decide to stick with them anyway beyond the free trial. Then, because of the near-certainty that those who lose weight with them will put it all on again plus more, they are guaranteed a steady stream of customers. Both SW and WW offer a healthy diet plan which if adhered to will result in weight loss. But to keep the weight off permanently, the new way of eating (or diet) needs to become a permanent way of life. If you stick to the diet permanently, there will come a point where you won't lose any more weight and will maintain the loss. But if you start to eat much more food than you were eating whilst following the diet or if you start to eat different types of foods from those on the diet, the weight will pile on again. And you'll be easy pickings for SW and WW again!0

I really need to lose some weight again but to be honest i feel embarrassed going back to the same class (the only one i can actually get to) and seeing the leader again, which i know is stupid... What i would like to know is how the meetings compare with the online plan, has anyone done both...how did they compare, which was more sucsessful... Just worried i wont stick to it if i know i wont have the weekjy weigh in... Thanks in advance
Unfortunately there are a lot of fad diets on the market, with Dietcare they help you to lose weight healthily and once you have lost the weight they put you on a maintenance diet so you will never put the weight back on. They also do personalised diets to suit the individual and you are assessed on your metabolic rate. Have a look at their webpage Dietcare.com0 -
