When your friend brings you the contents of their fruit bowl because they are going on holiday, and people regularly ask "Do you want this ?"

lol, my mum is always giving me the little boxes and bags things come in, and I always give her any food I've tried and not liked, even if it's half a jar or packet! :o
It's great though as she bought some venison steaks (reduced) but my dad didn't really like them so we've got her second packet in the freezer!

Also it's great when you have venison, duck, steak, etc in the freezer and get to "eat like a king" but everything was reduced or on special offer! :D

Oh and my mum hardly ever buys sandwich bags! whenever we go in shops she says no to carrier bags (we always take our own bags) but yes to those tiny carrier bags as she uses them for my dads sarnies - she even spent 5 minutes telling the poor girl in superdrug about why she would only take the small ones! :o

You know you're a money saver when you have an item of food shopping in your handbag (and coat pockets if they're big ones) so you don't have to pay a few pence for an extra carrier bag! Oh and you call your OH to come and meet you at the bus stop to help you with all the shopping you bought, as you weren't going to miss out on bargains, but as you'd already bought a bus ticket you weren't going to splash out on a taxi either! :D

YOu know you are a money saver when...

Your mum is pouring loads of washing up liquid into a very small vase to soak and get it clean and your 11YO son, tells her she only needs a small handful of rice and some white vinegar!! Telling her it works better and costs less too.

When you never leave the house without a bottle of water and a wrapped cereal bar in case you get thirsty or hungry, as you refuse to spend money on expensive snacks.

(Going out for a planned lunch or dinner is different - well you have to have the occasional treat :) ).
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

...when you use the scrunchie after a shower to wipe round the bath and basin before rinsing it out (I draw the line at the loo even if there is only me! ) rather than using a cloth and some expensive 'cream' cleaner.

...when one cheapie denture tablet is dissolved in the loo, you give it a good scrub (with the loo brush NOT the scrunchie :rotfl:) then leave in the loo overnight - keeps it clean and gets rid of the water mark

...when you clean vases with a cheapie denture tablet - one will do two or three vases one after the other - then tip the water into the loo to do the above, killing several birds with one denture tab :D

You know your a money saver when when:-

1)The guy in the local shop says no lentils today?
2)You head straight to the reduced section
    3) Your young children haggle with shop assistants and say "your charging how much for this toy? "
    4) When DS1 & 2 tell their father off for paying for full price meat and NOT looking in the reduced section.
5)When DS1 suggests the headteacher ask his mum on how to save money on food. Yes he really said this, when the school said to ALL the kids school meals were healthier, DS1 asked the price for one person, it's £7.60 for the week, My little man proudly said my mum makes all our pack lunches for less than that.
    6) When you say to the kids to go and grab some beans they go straight to the basics range.
    7) The kids get excited over finding a penny and say "wahoo camping for us!"
    8) When you go into B & Q and head straight to the clearance section with two kids shouting "Mam i found a toilet seat for a pound!" at the top of they lungs.
    9) Or when the boys tell nana you want to put some bisoda and white vinegar on the oven instead of that tat. then go here "i'll show you".
    10) When boys take up with ripped clothing and say mam fix that please.
    11) when the extra layers come out and boys tell dad off for using the gas.

I'm afraid that I think haggling in a charity shop is mean (sorry). :o Though I check my totals in every place I shop.

Yes, it's the one type of retail therapy that is totally guilt free (it gives me a warm feeling inside) and I wouldn't haggle over prices.
