  • I got my Mooncup this time last year and haven't bought any towels/tampons since :j It has saved me a small fortune and will continue to do so, I'm sure.

As a bonus, I can honestly say, it has changed my time of the month from being constantly anxious about leaks (sorry guys!) to forgetting I've even got my period!

Every woman should know about it and try one out, they really are fab.
Money paid out from Topcashback so far= £105.89 :j
No buying magazines in 2011 Challenge- Number bought to date= 0 :)

Re. the plastic bottles for freezing soup in. The plus is that they are square so fit neatly and take up less space, but the minus is that you have to let the soup defrost completely before you can get it out!
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Brilliant thread! Just spent about two hours reading all of it, some great tips here, thanks to all who have contributed so far!

Here's mine: you know you're a moneysaver when you've got a bag in the freezer that you keep adding bread crust ends to, saving them up to eventually make a chocolate bread and butter pudding - just looked up Delia's recipe and it sounds delish, can't wait til my crusts bag is full now!

Of course, I got the idea from a thead here on MSE. You guys are fab! :T

Im lucky, I do the toast club at my son's school in the mornings and the kids refuse to eat the crusts.
I bring them home and either put them in the freezer to make a pudding or bread sauce with the chicken later or I toast them later for my lunch :) well it makes my bread got further then lol.

  • Your ten year old (who has just been bought her first cheap PAYG phone in preparation for the long bus ride to secondary) comes in from her friends saying:

"Mum, I just rang orange customer services and asked if they could do me a better deal. They gave me 300 free texts and a months free web browsing."

You could have picked me up off the floor. :rotfl::T

That's fabulous! What a great kid, showing such initiative at such a young age.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

I love going to visit my mum know she would have had a sort out (she has so many clothes/bits new or unused) and she lets me have them for ebay and I can keep the money :) she gave me some Poole pottery dishes once as she never got round to doing a car boot with them, I had a fit when they went for £75 each as she would have sold them for 50p (I soon told her NEVER to do that and give them to me and we will go halves lol).

I work (cleaner) in a childrens play center before leaving I take the daily papers home to read before recycling them in my compost bin.

Still getting used to the mooncup, only used it one month, it was a bit fiddly, and took some getting the hang of for me,
    Jex

I found it took about 4 or 5 months to really get the hang of it, and still use a pad as a backup on heavy days, but it has literally changed my life, for many reasons. I wish I had learned about it when I was a poor student at university. :p

I haven't bought tampons for about 3 years now, and am thinking of giving away the spares I had stocked up on before I got the mooncup. They only time I would use a tampon these days is if I was out and about and got caught by surprise, which is the only reason that I keep a couple in my handbag. :o
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!

I have brought some cheap bath sponges (the 3pk with a srubby bit on top) from Homebargins and I use all my shampoo/conditioner/body lotion/bath and shower dregs on them to wash myself in the shower. I just put a bit of water in the bottles the squirt in on the sponge, I get a weeks worth out of the bottles then :)
