When I ring my DH on my mobile I let his phone ring out only a couple of times so it is heard but not answered. He then sees a missed call and calls me back saving my phone credit.0

I am more wasteful of food though-but as our household budget is very tight at the moment, I will sharpen my ideas up! I did throw away a load of chopped carrots today as they looked dodgy. I'm so worried about food poisoning!
SFG x
Loved your comments but I reckon you could have used your carrots in a casserole! Maybe next time....?0 -
thanks for the replies, I'm learning something new all the time in this thread.
When I was a kid my friends mum always used to let the phone ring 3 times so her husband knew she was ready to be picked up and taken home - no need to answer or ring back, he could always just check 1471 to make sure it was her if he needed to.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
Its been a while since I posted here (14 months!):o but I just couldn't resist posting on this thread. I have been in stitches....and here is my little contribution .
You know you are an MSE'er when you heat your living room with candles you got for xmas:rotfl:. Its amazing how several tea lights can raise the temperature of an average sized room and if they are scented even better;)JAN GC- £155.77 out of £200FEB GC £197.31 out of £180:o. MARCH GC - out of £200

But that's different, she obviously agreed this with him first. Whereas if someone just kept ringing me and hanging up (and expecting me to call them back) I would be asking why!Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

I have a tub in my freezer which any left over cooked veggies get put into for soup - nothing gets wasted!! I even put the broccolli stalks in as they are rich in calcium apparently!!One life.0

when you haven't bought a plastic bag for years, instead big polythene bags, the bags loo rolls come in and carriers are bin liners which get emptied and re-used if they're clean, smaller ones like fruit/veg, bread, clothing etc bags are for the freezer, sandwiches etc. When they're beyond use they go for cleaning the garden after the furpets
I'm very grateful to the companies who put at least 2 clothing collection bags through my door every week, I've been able to stop buying swing bin liners. And they come in smaller plastic bags - how thoughtful
I haven't bought a polythene box for I don't know how long, instead I have ice cream/spread/coleslaw etc tubs for the fridge and freezer. To have them matching is very pretty but they're never on show in my kitchen so I can't justify spending £'s on something I get for free0 -
When you use the milk left in your little one's cereal bowl in your cup of tea.......is that one a bit yuck? Cheerio crumbs aren't that bad in tea!0

With you all the way, sparrer - and they stack so well too.
250g margarine tub holds a reasonable amount of filling for a jacket spud.
500g tub holds a portion of home made soup/casserole.
1kg tub holds two portions of soup/casserole - or one if my OH is feeling really greedy .
coleslaw container (with a sealable lid) holds left-over tinned toms/baked beans etc when a tin has been opened.0
