Or you have inherited it from a teenager...
-mine came from DS's ex GF!
I had my first mobile phone for about 8 years until the battery started going, since then I've used DH's cast offs. He always has to have the latest phone with all the bells and whistles, while I'm not fussed as long as I can make calls and text.0 -

I know what you mean Tara beacause clocking can also mean knocking miles off in order to deceive.

I pick up any coins I see in the street but out today to post a letter and what do I find ?
A neatly folded £20.00 note lying on the floor next to the post box !!
Did have a look around to check if anyone could have dropped it but nobody about.0 -
Thanks to Alison Funnel for explain the side-to-middling technique to kitschkitty.
I am planning to do it again, but this time ACROSS the sheet because other bits are getting consumed and it would further extend the life of the sheet. It is good quality cotton, probably 10+ years old so it is starting to go thin in many places, but I really want to use all the life out of it if I can.
Its possible future incarnations could be anything from dust-sheet to dishcloths, window-cleaning rags or just rag strips in my rag-bag.Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Well worn sheets are so soft.
As cotton is brilliant for oil and the old ones get taken for using as oily rags. :eek:Put the kettle on.0 -
Oh its so lovely to come across people who make me feel llike a normal person! haha. DH thinks i'm really tight, but hey, we need to be. I don't want to be one of these people putting everything on a credit card and then claiming bankruptcy!
I always head to sales at end of Jan, in the hope of picking future presents up for £1 maximum (hopefully)
I love charity shops (one in particular)
I recycle presents (pass them on- although I did get caught out doing this-luckily we're still friends!)
I always head to reduced section of supermarket, buy ALL no frills and use coupons if I can.
I take drinks from home for my kids every time we go out (weak squash)
We take picnics on all days out
I have an M&S credit card which we pay for everything on, so we get M&S gift vouchers sent to us every 3 months
I only buy things from M&S that are reduced/on offer
I water down fabric conditioner, soap & milk
I print vouchers for every night out with DH (normally free cinema tix with cheap but delish 3 course meal at casino-£7.95)
I do sneak hip flasks/mniatures into every bar/club and buy soft mixers
We buy petrol from cheapest pertol station and save morrisons reward card points for vouchers.
I buy all the offers from each supermarket, and our garage is crammed full of tins
I dread wedding invitations as it costs so much to attend! Much better if you are evening only!
I am a Bootser, and most presents we give come from there...
I am more wasteful of food though-but as our household budget is very tight at the moment, I will sharpen my ideas up! I did throw away a load of chopped carrots today as they looked dodgy. I'm so worried about food poisoning!

your mum comes to stay over Xmas and brings her own (M+S) loo roll (scented and printed with pictures of lavender - the kids were very suspicious) as she had heard me tell tales of how DH will stand outside the bathroom door and hand 3 sheets to you as you go in (according to him you don't need more than 3!) and then ask if you have any left when you come out.... (actually he doesn't do this but has threatened to as DD's get through a roll a day and it annoys him immensely)
When I fished my Aldi tea bag out of the mug and saved it for later use, my mum commented that rationing finished years ago........(she is the queen of ready meals and heats her home to a tropical temperature that makes us all nod off when we visit. Last time I visited I was so hot my face flushed bright red and mum told me I probably suffer from high blood pressure):rotfl:After her visit she bought us a halogen heater so can only assume she was cold despite my offers of hot water bottles and fleecy blankets....... She had also bought a cardigan that was lined with fleece especially for the visit.............
I would point out that was not trying to freeze my poor mum to death, the heating was on and up high, and mum had a plug in heater right in front of her chair but ours is a cold house compared to mums flat and we are all used to it by now.0 -
Sorry dont know how to do quotes but looking back through this thread I had to laugh as someone said they had put their snowmans nose in the slow cooker. I also did this, when snowman had melted I went outside to pick up the hat, scarf and gloves lying on the lawn to pop in the washer and also "recycled" his nose by picking it up as well, sneaking it into the house and adding it to that nights tea. Had to make sure no family members were watching tho' as they would have turned up their noses:eek:0
