I really don't know. The original article by Martin suggests that you just need to make the one £1500 transaction in and out, so I am really confused.

The t&C's are clear that it is one transaction - "Wine qualification upon first credit transaction of £1500 minimum"

I suspect Martins original article might have missed this point. In order to get the vouchers from Smile I think we will need to make sure we following the T&C's from Smile closely to make sure they do not try and get out of sending the vouchers.

£5 for 12 bottles of wine is still a very good bargain!

I deposited £1506 on 19th July. I removed £1500 on 20th July (I needed the money back into my normal account!!). I got paid 10p interest on 21st July and 1p interest on 21st August!!

However on 29th July I chased the wine voucher by "secure message". They replied on 1st August saying:

"As long as you have followed all terms and conditions for the wine offer you should receive your wine email by the end of August"

Direct and to the point. So I am just sitting and waiting!

It will be interesting to see if they say anything about your account balance being zero (well 10pence) for the whole of August with no transactions.

In theory they could close the account if you do not make any payments (salary, pension or £1000 deposit) according to the current account T&C's.

The wine voucher T&C's say nothing specific about this, but I would assume that it implies that the account has to remain open until 31st August (or 31st September in my case) when the wine voucher will be sent to us via email.

    Keep us posted!

Actually there will be £6 still in there, check again what I wrote!

I get your point though. I did not know about the £1000 thing at the time, well till this week when reading the forum. If I had I would have transferred another £100 in then out but as I get paid on the 15th of each month I can't afford to do this before 15th September.

I hope I have not wasted my time!
