Cold weather payments: quickly check if you're entitled

Hi,
Yes, I qualify. I am on the higher rate of ESA(high support group) plus I get a disability premium for being on high rate ESA.
The problem has arisen as JCP were months late(clerical error) sorting out my medical. I only recently had the medical and had my money backdated to OCt 31st 2009. JCP say I am definately in the right support group for receiving the CWP. They won't pay it though as it is automatically triggered at the time of cold weather. Mine wasn;t triggered as I was not on the system at that time. They won't back date it:(
Are you on income based ESA?0 -
Strange as it might sound..I am on both income based and contribution based ESA.0

Partner is on JSA(c), we are waiting for Pension Credits to be sorted out still ( which should be backdated to dec 7th) would we be entitled to any cold weather payments? if so, how do we claim?"I live my dream today, I lived it yesterday and I'll be living yours tomorrow":smileyhea

if you get the pension credit backdated to the 7th dec then yes you should get cwp as long as your area triggered tell the pension service but it should be automatic you should also be entitled to £10 xmas bonus unless this was paid with another benefit ie dla0 -

Cheers , will ring them up tomorrow and find out what is going on,only trouble when we call it all gets very confusing as partner is on JSA (cb) and they have just backdated pension credits clerically and are paying PC clerically until his JSA(cb) comes to and end in next few weeks or something, must speak to the tho as they are taking capital into account which we no longer have as we spent it waiting 6 months for them to sort claims out...."I live my dream today, I lived it yesterday and I'll be living yours tomorrow":smileyhea

Hi there
Can I just ask how you find up to date info on when these payments were triggered in any given area.
I have searched and can only find up to 5 Jan 2010, or is that it.
I was awarded a Severe Disability Premium, backdated to beginning of Dec 09, and am going to enquire tomorrow to DWP to see if I am entitled to a CWP.
Thank you all for making me aware of this.0 -
Don't you just love how IB isn't a "trigger" benefit.0

Has anyone had a CWP paid yet? The checker suggests two in my area. (cambs)0
