As I have a child under 5 and live in a cold weather area as designated by the Gov website, apparently i am entitled to £25 per week towards heating costs! How do i receive this if i receive no government benefits except child tax credits?0

And here are the salient details
You may be eligible for a Cold Weather Payment if you get Pension Credit or income-related Employment and Support Allowance with a support or work related activity component in the main phase.
You may also be eligible for a Cold Weather Payment for each qualifying week if you are getting Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance or income-related Employment and Support Allowance in the assessment phase and have one of the following:- a pensioner premium, higher pensioner premium or enhanced pensioner premium
- a disability premium, enhanced disability premium or severe disability premium
- a disabled child premium
- Child Tax Credit that includes a disability or severe disability element
- a child who is under five in the family
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

You should not need to be spending hours on the telephone chasing up when you are going to get paid this additional money. If you are getting a qualifying benefit the payment will be made automatically to you. The systems will run a scan and identify all eligible people and then issue payments. So my advice would be to wait and check your bank accounts if after a few weeks you have not had the payments then contact the relevant department (the one paying your qualifying benefit) and they can look into it.
Those people currently applying for one of the qualifying benefits which are being backdated should also check if the CWP payments have made once the benefit is in payment!
For those of us who receive the severe disability element for a child in the CTC instead of included in the IS (and who are also receiving IS), we have been waiting more than a few weeks...my first trigger was the 18th of December!
There was a problem with this group last year, which IS thought had been resolved...but it is a problem again this year.We made it! I've looked on the internet and I have been getting the run around on the phone. No one seems willing to tell me if I am entitled to the cold weather payments and if I am what I have to do to get them, there have been three triggered in my area so far and I have not had any payments.
Please can someone help and let me know who I ask and what the secret handshake or word is because I am so fed-up with being bounced around DWP, Job Centre and Direct.gov.;)
ThanksI get Dla for my son, low rate mobility and medium care. I'm on income support and child tax credits. I did get the payments last year but i was on income support then not child tax credits. They changed me over a few months ago. I think i do get a special needs child premium or something on my tax credits. The postcode checker says there are 3 periods of cold weather payments due. As yet i have not recieved any.*SIGH*0
