This may have been covered in previous posts ('fraid it was too depressing to read them all) but please note whatever they say payments are not always automatic. We would have missed payments last year if I had not complained, in the end I had to involve my MSP to get a response from our BDC (Benefit Delivery Centre).
Their excuse for not paying out was that they had to rely on getting a list of those eligible from the DWP (I think). This had to be on paper and then each entry had to be transferred manually!!!!!!

Anyway surprise, surprise the same has happened this year so I will have to go a dig out last years correspondence and go through the process again. I remember last time I had to send them bank statements to prove I had not received the payments! They claimed to have no other way to tell.
I am in Scotland and my BDC is Clydebank who are notorious for not replying to you unless you get your MSP or MP involved.
I am just worried that there might be lots of others who miss out on the money altogether because they don't complain. Anyone else had this experience? It would be interesting as last year they insisted I was one of very few people affected.... which I find hard to believe.
the dwp inform everyone who is getting a payment by letter allbeit after the moneys gone into the bank.
  • My area as many others have been very very cold, the met office has only issued one payment in my area but its been below 0c here for a long time, and as many other people still had no payment. You would think this government would know to expect many people ringing and be prepared to issue payments on time (yeh right lol )

sorry but no, you would need Child Tax Credit that includes a disability or severe disability element .

update, the postcode checker has not been updated for my area, my last trigger was 4th jan and its shows no more, i have just rang and been told one was triggered on the 6th which i was expecting one to trigger on, it will be in my bank bank the week after the 16th/17th the scan will be done on those two dates, be aware of this last trigger date, she advised me that is the last triggered payment no more will be issued for the future as the cold snap has gone now.

i have 2 children under 5, and hubby is esa after being ill, we were on working tax credit, but we havent recieved anything........
  • I thought as much, thank you for your reply,it makes me really annoyed that people who work and pay there taxes dont get any help,i dont begrudge anyone but i think whats good for one is good for another, sometimes i wonder if i would be better off giving up my job.
  • Yay!!

I received a letter last week stating that I would be getting a payment. I did. I haven't received since but received another payment today.

Make sure that you keep any receipts because if you complain that you didn't get a payment they can always say, which they did last year to me, that you did receive it.
  • Used the postcode checker and i am on the right benefits - also child under 5 - says entitled to 5 cold weather payments - received nothing yet????
