At the moment the only group of benefit claimants who are having problems getting an automatic payment of CWP are
IS (Income support) and CTC (child tax credits) with a disability premium/severe disability premium.

I think a little bit of patience should be exercised. Given how ineffectual DWP systems can be I wouldn't be surprised if they've been overloaded by the sheer number of payments being dealt with (ie virtually the entire country three or four weeks running). I got a first cwp about two weeks ago, according to the postcode checker I'm due two more. I'm not gonna panic, I'm sure it'll be processed in due time, I'll just keep that info in mind if I haven't received them in a couple of weeks time and act then. (And I understand some people may be massively struggling financially but I doubt any amount of chasing up will get them processed any quicker)

Hi shellfire - do you receive a disability or severe disability child element with CTC? If so, you will qualify. Unfortunately, your payment may be delayed. There seems to be a problem paying people who qualify through this way.
  • Hi, I checked my postcode and found I should receive 4 cold weather payments between 1st November 2009 and 8th January 2010. I have received one DWP cheque for the period 18th December to 24th December 2009 for £25, I received it in Monday 4th January 2010. So what happened to the payments dated 1st November to 18th December I have no idea. I have sent the DWP an email [I'm not wasting money using a 0845 number to call them no way.] asking them to explain this lapse in information, Direct gov saying one thing and the DWP doing another.

The 1st of November date is just when cold weather payments start if the temp is low enough, not the date you will have received one from
  • Hi, I'm asking on behalf of my sister who is claiming Incapacity Benefit & low-rate Disability. Is she entitled to CWP?

    Many Thanks

There are no payments due from 1 November to 18th December. November 1 is when the Cold Weather Payment scheme starts each winter, it runs to 31 March. When you use the postcode search for any postcode in the UK it will always state 1 November as the first date. No triggers in the UK happened in November.

Your other payments will be on the way.

Although we did email the dept, we received an automated message it could be 10 days before a response, so we did ring them then last week, then suddenly we received an email as well, was surprised as I did not think we would get one that soon going by their automated response.

Basically they do have lots to get through, a backlog then.

We are owed 4 as well, but not received the first one yet up to know but they are aware and confirm it should be in our account by Monday, okay 2 weeks later than it should have been but just as long as we know, then I'm sure the other payments will follow on.

Good luck to all also still waiting.;)
