Taplady - all colleges have to have emergency plans - goodness, this snow is affecting so many parts of the country!
JackieO - really pleased for you. Sorry you had the nasty experience re badge though!
    PP- lovely to *see* you
(((hugs))) to all who are feeling stressed at the moment. So many people are having difficulties in one way or another.
Bright and sunny here although the snow hasn't shifted, obviously. DH did the morning walk with the doggies and I have been sneaking some time on here when I should be doing other things.
Tea last night was roast chicken and veg. I bought 2 for £7 at Asd@ - they were marked about £4.80 each. Roasted both and will be eating chicken for a while and will also bag some up to freeze and then make soup with bones. Having to watch the pennies carefully at the moment, like so many!
WM on with a load of whites. Have some jeans and jumpers to do later.
Dental check up at 1.30. I had a bad dream last night about having an appointment and woke up thinking whew - it was only a dream, then realised it is true!
DD and her OH come back from New York on Thurs, flying to Heathrow so i hope the dire predictions for snow in the south later this week don't materialise! They then have to get a train to Edinburgh.
    Keep warm everyone!
Bitsy - am still thinking about the other Norfolk places! Brain not working well:rolleyes:

Are the trains still running taplady?

It's not that far from the college to the station, although up hill.

Hope something can be arranged xx

no trains to where we live - only a bus and thats not going to make it over Clows Top - a huge hill, plus the road near us is blocked atm by a lorry. just heard the clows top hill is closed.
I'm not going in to work - they rang to say dont risk it.
    Do what you love :happyhear
  • Morning all

    SunnyGirl - thinking of you

JC - your in my thoughts, try not to think about it, I know its difficult

Celyn - Sorry to hear about your Dads van

Thank you for your kind words, we are just trying to get on with things as there is no point fretting we just have to wait and see what happens. We were ment to be getting married next year but we've had to cancel all plans as we don't know whats going to happen. The money is there though so its just a case of when the wedding will take place now.

Snowed a little bit through the night and this morning here, its bitterly cold though, well wrapped up with ear muffs, snood, gloves etc. Plus the good old faithful £10 wellies. Im off to the gym later so I hope the metro's are running as I need to get myself into gear and get back into it properly.

HUGS to all that need them today, saty safe and warm too!!

    Hi all,
Lots of snow here in the early hours, lots of schools shut and abandoned vehicles. Its still coming down.Dh and Dsons have cleared our steep drive but I think thats as far as they'll get today. The main bus provider has cancelled all routes,I've not seen such snow for years and years.

Time to root through the freezer for something warming and I'll make some soup in a bit,I've got a big butternut squash.I went to the corner shop and they hadnt had any bread delivered-not that that bothers me,I made some last night, but some people will be struggling.I got some eggs though, and we had mini pancakes, with toppings according to individual taste-I had blueberries, greek yog and maple syrup.

I've run out of bird seed, but cleared the table, and put some fat out ,and some nuts and seeds,it'll help a bit till I can get some more. The village store has run out of sledges and shovels! We used 2 pieces of laminate flooring to clear the drive as they have left their spades at work

My New Years resolution is to get my 3 men to do more around the house! :D Seems to be working,DS2 has just emptied the dishwasher, and DH just wiped and tidied the kitchen :TDS1 did a lot of the tidying yesterday after the tree came down. We'll see how long it lasts but they all did it without me nagging.

Off for another brew, take care everyone.x

  • Morning everyone.

Firstly let me say to Bitsy Woo hoo snow!!!!! I'm delighted for you, and glad you didn't need to resort to that artificial stuff!;)

We had another few inches last night, and although it looks nice I'm seriously fed up looking at it. We managed to get the heating up and running ourselves yesterday, looked up the manual on the internet and dismantled the panelling in front of the pipework and went for it. It was really late on Sunday when it went down, so didn't have the energy or brains to tackle it, but waking up to a nice cold house yesterday galvanised me into it. It was only the pressure that was low, but the boiler doesn't have a button that says reset on it, and the manual had a different programmer in the diagram. But we got there in the end. Nice and toasty now.

The upside of it was that my darling neighbour, who's in her 80's had stopped me outside to wish me a Happy New Year, and I had been telling her about the heating being broken (this was early in the morning). She was really concerned about the boys being cold, although I assured her we had temp. heaters etc., and had invited us to come in if we got too cold! She's so sweet. Her husband too. Well, six o'clock last night the front door went, and it was the lady next door. "Please don't be insulted, but I've made a huge put of soup and I'd like you to have some, if you don't mind. I really don't mean to be rude..." Cue much blushing from me, how could I say no? I explained gently that we don't eat meat and wouldn't want to waste it, but she had remembered and made it with vegetable stock!

    What an :A.

Hugs to everyone feeling cold, and poorly, and to those in need.

Special hugs tro Sunnygirl and family.
