Taplady - glad to hear your son is on his way home, had visions of him sleeping at college!
Molly - sorry about your DS being dismissed.0 -
Afternoon all,
OH dropped me off at Mums earlier as the weather is so bad, and picked me up on his way back from his Mums. At least both the Mum's have full freezers and fridges so they will have plenty to eat.
What an awful day its turning out to be, looks very nice out there but sooo cold brrrrr.
It would be a different story if the girls were still up here they would have me outside making a snowman each for them, and pinching the carrots out of the fridge for the nose's.
More snow forecast for later so not going to my friends tonight I will just have to have a couple of vinos on my own, lifes so hard sometimes  :rotfl:
heavenleigh - no gritters been out here either, it said on the TV that grit was in short supply .... Yes you're right very OS snow costs nothing but kids love it :j
Ladyshopper - aww that was nice of you and he will have a nice warm drink if he gets stuck in traffic
taplady - glad you've heard from them.
Molly - so sorry about your son news
Off to knit some more wrist warmers for MIL and my DGD's they love them
Keep warm everyone
Anne

Thanks for your good wishes and hugs - My son has lapses of attention - he has just been diagnosed with ADD. I had a huge row with row with him before he went to work. He was told to reduce certain items. His mind wasn't on the job and he reduced the wrong item and was accused of doing it deliberately as a favour. It has been going on since October but today they decided that they were going to sack him. Apparently having ADD would not cause a lapse in attention according to them. I feel partly responsible cos I picked a fight with him - this damn illness makes me feel so unreasonable some days.
Now he has to try and find another job.He is so worried that no-one will employ him ever again. He has such low self-esteem and all his drinking just to cover it up. I have had my 19 year old in tears over this today. He has to pick himself up.I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

The girls are happy as they love the snow. Youngest suggested 'home-school' should be shut because of it
:rotfl:
Doesn't quite work that way.
No snow here in Concrete Cow Country - yet. Hopefully, it'll stay that way; when Mr LW finishes his w*rk today (15:30) we have to go to the surgery to get our prescriptions, then into town to get them filled, then on to Morries for the first supermarket [STRIKE]battle[/STRIKE] visit of the year.
Molly, sorry to hear of your DS's troubles; his employers' logic mystifies me, I have to say.
Keep warm, keep safe everyone; and ((((HUGS)))) for all who are unwell, worried, sad or just want one today. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Taplady I'm glad your son is on his way home. Despite the fact that I love the snow I appreciate how horrible travelling in it is. Worcester city centre is bad.
At about 11.30 I had a call from my boys saying they needed picking up from school (Worcester city centre more or less) as it was closing and they didn't know when the buses would be arriving. So off I went and it was a grim drive made even worse by the fact that I forgot to go to the loo before I went not realising how much longer I'd take (:doh:duh?). Boy was I desperate by the time I got back!
After I'd been to the looI rang dd's school and discovered they had shut too so I tramped round there to fetch her. A much much easier journey.
Anyway they're all out in the snow now, looks like they'll be home tomorrow too. There's a batch of gingerjacks (flapjacks with ginger in 'em) in the oven ready for them when they come in with their wet gloves, boots and coats. At least I don't have to do the swimming run or get tea ready early;)0 -

Sorry to hear about that Molly.
I hope your son will be able to find something soon, before his lack of self esteem causes more serious problemsThere is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0 -
Hi everyone,
No snow here yet and I hope it stays that way because I worry about DS driving to and from work after his shifts in it.
DD is now in Melbourne after her short stay in Sidney, she is doing the rounds of the wineries (she works in the field and has been commissioned to do some writing about drink as she goes around, in addition to her reviews of luxury hotels!!). Everyone I have told about her celebrating New Year by wathing the fireworks on Sidney Harbour Bridge from a yacht in the bay has said that it doesn't suprirse them, she leads a charmed life.
I joined the flylady thread yesterday and managed to to a bit and also took down the Christmas decorations so I'm quite pleased the house will be back to normal tonight.
I spent the morning at hospital having an X-ray because I have damaged my foot. It slipped as I was getting into the car and banged hard on the underside of one of the pedals. It's so sore and swollen the nurse thought I had broken a metatarsal, but luckily I haven't.
I hope you all stay safe in the snow and my thoughts are with those who are ill, sad or struggling in some other way.0 -
Molly, so sorry to hear of your sons bad news, I would get some advice if I were you, I think there is an employment board on here somewhere ???
OH has gone out to collect dd for me, bless him, its not got above freezing here at all today, just put the spuds in the oven for jackets tonight, dd will have a veggie chilli with hers, OH and I will have some ham, and the last bit of salad left, in my aim to empty the fridge before the move, I made a sort of coleslaw, with grated carrot, onion, and finely chopped stilton, all mixed up with mayo, its delish, there is enough for my lunch for a couple of days too.
Have fun all, and keep warm, (still no snow here )0
