    Afternoon all
Thanks for the offer of the book floss, it sounds great.
Reverbe, I hate selling much loved books too, we're 3 miles from the library so don't use it often, it's too far to walk.
Oh JC, I'm so sorry, fingers crossed for you & DS.
The drawer beside the hob sounds a great idea, just need to find a home for the carp that's in there ATM, I'll do that next.
I've been very bad, I went to the Chemist to get more painkillers, what with hubby's knee, my shoulder & last night's earache, we were running out. Next door to the chemist is a little wool shop, they had a sale on, there was some wool in there that I have lusted after for a year, today they had 5 odd balls for £1 each, I couldn't resist.
    Have a good afternoon everyone
    Hugs Hester

  • Afternoon all, hope you had a lovely new year x

Well the tree is down and i am well underway with the post holiday clean up.
I have been so busy i have hardly had time to be on the pc!
Dinner tonight for ds1 and i will be hm lasagne and salad, ds2 and dd's 1&2 will be having hm chilli from the freezer, they will eat spag bol and chilli but not lasagne
I aquired a new cook book yesterday Nigel Slater's 'Apetite' as my mother's oh bought it her for christmas not realising he had bought it her last year too :rotfl: I would never have paid the £20 he did for it so am very greatful for his forgetfulness, the recipes all seem to use minimal ingredients and i am about to embark on his rustic hm bread this afternoon, will let you know how i get on :D

Hugs to all in need xx
    Leigh xx

    Afternoon all!

Bloomin cold and frosty here today! Had dd3 home and had to go into town to get her some new school shoes, made me smile when the assistant told me there was plenty of growing room, ha, like she ever grows out of them before she wears them out!

OS stuff today has again been very minimal, but will be heading off to tackle the kitchen and cook some dinner soon, really don't feel like it as not eating properly still and interest in food is incredibly low, especially for me!

Redruby - didn't go entirely as planned yesterday! Surprise, surprise! Complete mess of confusion! Going to have another try at sorting things out tomorrow evening!

My poorly car has been collected by the garage today, they didn't hold out much hope of it being repairable sadly! So I shall be looking for another car at the weekend, felt quite sad watching it being taken away!

Right time for a quick coffee and catch up before I head for the kitchen, hugs to all who need them and welcome to all the new people who have started posting too! And I shall attempt to be a whole lot more upbeat tomorrow! xx

DD(15) has gone back to school today and DH and another DD have gone out to get mantel clock fixed and leave it at the jewellers.

Dd(20) has had a driving lesson and is ready for her test on Thursday but as the centre in York is all iced up and snow is forecast she may not be able to take it. She goes back to uni this weekend so would much rather get test over with.

DH has been ringing round to find out price and availability for another car
as the company one goes back at the end of this month. To me it is obvious which is the best deal but have done my best not to intefere ;)

I wanted take books back to the library today but it is so icy I just phoned them instead and got them renewed.

Will make two of the dds a vegetarian pasta dish for an early tea and see what the rest of the family fancy as I have salmon steak or home made pizza left from yesterday and might do a few saute potatoes to go with it.

Have not decided what I am having but it will be healthy, low fat, low sugar and salt etc as I am still determined to lose flab and gain in nutrition.

Hugs to jackieO, celyn, MSD, jc2703, SunnyGirl, PennyPincher and anyone else who could use one.

JC - sorry to hear your news (((hugs))), try to be positive though I understand how hard it must be.

Hilstep - hope you get your dad sorted.

Funny day today, not done too much so far - had to pop out as desperately needed some athletes food spray - nice I know- amazing how something so small can be so irritating.

Found out that DS is at home again tomorrow as school has no heating. Have been told to keep an eye on the website as they cannot tell when it we will working again. DS is going round happy as larry - DD is even worse mood that she was before (which was bad enough)

Am setting up a new wireless printer we bought in the sale. It is very good and fast but am having trouble setting it up on the netbook which has no disc drive - think will be making a trip to the tech board - they are very helpful on there.

Will give myself another 5 minutes on it and if no luck then when have a break.

Celyn - hope it goes well in court for your OH.

Hi all! :hello: Chilly old day today!

jc - So sorry about what is happening, horrible to have it hanging over you all (((HUGS)))

rachel - (((HUGS))) to you too

Diva - glad you managed to speak to Tris x

celyn - About the potato peeler, I have the Good Grips Y-shaped one. I think they sell it as a vegetable peeler but I use it for the spuds, it's the only one that doesn't hurt my hands. And what an excellent idea to get a Kenwood Chef! Just the job for things like wedding cakes, and will give your hands a much-needed rest. Actually Kenwood did used to do a potato-peeling attachment for the Chef - I don't know if they still do, but in any case my friend who had one said it only worked well if the potatoes were all spherical :p

Which reminds me - LameWolf - Sorry you are having such problems with your hands atm, I hope it will improve soon. Does the cold weather make it worse? I have ME and sometimes, like just lately, I find my arm and hand muscles get tired and painful much faster than at others. I end up putting off showering because of it sometimes as it's so difficult to dry myself, though using a smaller towel helps.

    Penny_pincher - Thinking of you

JackieO - Hope all went well at hospital x

elona - So glad you are starting to feel more like your old self :j

redruby - Hope the packing-and-cleaning's going ok!

AussieLass - Wishing for some rain and cooler weather for you!

Hester - Glad you gave yourself a little treat! Do you know yet what you're going to make with your bargain?

csarina - Whatever has your DD been up to with your sewing machine?

Made Hugh F-W's bolognese last night, and a batch is in the freezer for another time. I might get some lamb shoulder steaks this week and make his Lamb and Squash Curry (sorry no linky, I don't know how to do them and if someone explained to me I'd forget within 5 seconds :o), as we enjoyed that, but will make half the amount as there was more than we knew what to do with last time.

((((HUGS)))) to the many people in need of some, and welcome to our new posters

Right, I'm off to get another load of washing to put in (shortly).

Certainly the cold weather doesn't help. And my hands have been known to literally turn blue while I'm using the computer!
Mr LW has just phoned to say he's on his way home, so will need to go and cook the lovingly constructed HM pizza we've got for dins. It's got just about everything I could find in the fridge and freezer on it!:rotfl:
